4. 5/10 Phoenix Scientology Protest
Operation Fair Game:Stop. This video asks everybody to explain exactly what they are trying to convey with their signs.

May 12th Update: I will clarify that the signs were not necessarily all made by the people holding them, but the people holding them all agreed with the signs they ended up with. In most cases where an individual who wanted to speak had no sign, I had them pick a sign that had not been or was not going to be in the video already, that they agreed with.

Excellent indeed, great idea: better remain some more seconds when looking the slogans, though,.

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, the footage I used was all the footage I had. I did not film the signs as long as I should have in some situations, so it did go by rather quick.

    Sorry.

Coming from one of the experts, that means very much. Thanks.

Firstly, you don't have "everyone" in this video, so don't write that you have "everyone".

Secondly, I wish to give proper credit where it's due: The "Don't R2-45 Me, Bro" was made by atlas, who couldn't join us. The large, double foam board sign that reads "Scientology will be treated like a religion when it acts like one" sign was made by yours truly.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this protest was the fact that several of us were tailed by PI's and were ourselves the subject of Scientology's Fair Game policy, a fact that was excluded from this video probably because you didn't know about it superrodan.

I apologize if I offended you in some way.

May I also ask where I wrote that everyone was in the video?

Ninja Llama: Dude, chill. Its a good video, it makes the points well. Infomation and the spread of the Anony-meme is important.

As for some of you getting fair gamed; well thats part of the risk of getting involved. Either you take the risk or you don't, but having a go at people won't help.

Ninja didn't say anything was wrong with the video, dude.
He/She may have been short with their words but they are correct. I believe this is a good example that the various phoenix anon need to communicate with each other more so that in the end a superior product is released.

The video is fantastic, but it would have been a nice touch (a really point-driving touch) to include that some of the very people speaking in the video were thereafter 'fair gamed' by Scilons/PIs hired by the Scilons.

As for Fair Gaming, yes, [CN], we ALL were well aware of the risk. None of us are complaining about it, we're trying to get the word out that it's happening right now, despite what the scinos say. I don't see where Ninja is being hostile about being fair gamed, to be honest. Maybe about other things(lol), but not that.

Unfortunately, I left before everybody else did, and I payed as much attention as possible and do not think that anyone followed me. They might have, but I didn't catch it.

I am very careful about accusing local members of the CoS of anything I cannot prove. That is why I do not show people that were on the other side of the fence talking to us, because until I hear them say they are a scientologist I have to go with their story of "I just work here and was curious about the people wearing masks".

I do not want to sink to the level of the CoS people that accused us as a group of leaving a dead cat at their dorstep since I know for a fact that we did not organize any such thing.
  • Aiden Holland 7 months ago
Uh.. it's not like we're telling you to vilify the Scientologists.

You can tell the story and still be fair.

Saying that some of the anon featured in this video reported being followed(or were allegedly followed) after the protest does it pretty nicely, and it won't be stooping to their level. I don't know if you've had any journalism classes, but there are ways to word these things objectively so that you aren't accusing any one person or group, while still giving as much of the story as possible. This lets people draw their own conclusions.

Yes, you weren't there to see it happen, but you weren't there when Harriet Baker was harassed by scilons when she demanded a refund from them either. Time certainly took her word for it. How many things do we not see everyday but read about? It's healthy to remain skeptical of everything but we can't discredit everything we weren't there for at the time.

No one was asking you to put anyone on the other side of the fence up on film, either. I don't know why that was even brought up, or how much more straight forward I can be here. There is too much assuming. I can assure you there is nothing between the lines, just what I've put down here.
  • Superrodan 7 months ago
I have not taken any journalistic classes, sorry.

Also, I mentioned about the people on the other side of the fence because I thought it was a parallel to the fact that it's something I really don't want to mention when I didn't have what I considered enough evidence to actually form a view on it.

That's the same reason I didn't report the post protest fair gaming, I wasn't there for it and I really didn't know too much about it, so I was trying to save myself from saying something that wasn't precisely true or something that would anger the other protesters in some way.

The last thing I want to do is make you guys mad, you help me out immensely by being good sports and showing up in my videos month after month when you could instead just tell me to go screw myself.

I guess I just intended to play it safe rather than cause a big problem by talking about something I knew little about.

In reply to asking where it was you wrote "everyone":
"This video asks everybody to explain exactly what they are trying to convey with their signs."

To clarify: yes I was short in my reply, but I have a tendency to be overly wordy with my comments and I was trying not be.

As far as being fair gamed, [citationNeeded] you applied your own inflection into my words: I was not "bitching" about the fact that I and many others were fair gamed. I was quite happy in a twisted sort of way and now have an interesting experience to share with people and had a bit of fun falling back behind the PI and giving him a taste of his own medicine. Aiden has an accurate understanding of my intentions behind my comment.

Also, just for clarification, I have taken journalism classes, and am currently a film major, so I take these sort of things personally and only want the best to come out of Phoenix.

I might also add (in a self-promoting fashion) that I am an amazing resource on all things involving PHX Anon. I'm the only person left out of the original meeting at ASU at Coor Hall and I've attended EVERY flyering, mini-raid and protest we've ever had since the middle of January. I talk to our police officers (as well as 2 others) and have been involved in every major interview/article that has been written about PHX Anon.

And superrodan, I'm making a bit of an assumption here though, but I'm thinking that the "cool sign idea SOMEONE had" also came from me. I'm constantly around, and am usually informed of EVERYTHING.
  • Superrodan 7 months ago
I guess looking back at the paragraph about the fair gaming, I added the internet snark to the comment myself when I read it. Sorry.

Also, the "everybody" refers to everybody I talked to in the video, not everybody at the protest. Understandably, some people don't want to appear on camera (Heck, I didn't even make an appearance until this video).

Thanks for helping organize everything from the start. It's people like you that keep me from running out of interesting things to film. Hopefully the next protest turns out as cool as it sounds.

Nice video i like the idea of asking people about there signs.
  • Superrodan 7 months ago
Thanks. Fom what I hear, someone came up with a really cool idea for the next protest that I won't spoil here just in case it is a secret. I don't know if it has been fully decided yet so I don't want to tell everyone about it, but if it does happen I think it will make a pretty neat video.
