1. A Flight in a B-17
I just got my Sony PMW-EX1 and decided to take it out for a test drive. This is a remarkable camera with astonishing picture quality and versatility. I shot it at 1080/24P and added some Magic Bullet Looks (Reversal) to the clips. The music is by Jerry Goldsmith (Airforce One) and Basil Poledouris (Starship Troopers). My son says it's way too corny, but what the hell!!

    Footage looks GREAT!

BTW, how did you manage a ride in a military plane?

I'm glad you enjoyed the footage. Flying around in this thing is relatively simple -- the EAA, which owns the plane ( b17.org/ ) flies it around to various airfields for people to come aboard for a quick flight. It costs around $385/person so it's not cheap, but then again when are you going to have the opportunity to fly in 1 or 4 existing B-17s!!

Nice video - that's a great camera! So is that the Aluminum Overcast? It has different colors than what's on the b17.org web site.

I went up in the Liberty Foundation's Liberty Belle here in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 3rd. My late father was a B-17 bombardier during the war and that was my tribute to him. What a superbly restored aircraft it is. Even has a functioning bombsight! Kind of a tight squeeze getting into that nose, huh? Dad spent 150 combat hours sitting in that bombardier's seat until the Nazi's finally shot him down.

They took off the top hatch on my flight - you could stick your head right out into the open air! It cost a bit more than your flight though - $430. But it was worth EVERY PENNY! I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
