It seems a lot like a juvenile version of NO.5 from "Short Circuit." I guess the younger kids won't have that comparison though. The design is a bit of a rip off IMHO.

I think WallE is annoying. The cutesy voice--trying to play up to everyone's soft spot...Haven't we seen this before? ET, Short Circuit -Johnny5, R2D2....
Technically, it is incredible,.
The story behind and the creation of, is incredible.
3 friends created Wall-E over a lunch meeting, development began, one of the creators pass away, the idea went to the shelf for a while. And now, the remaining are resurrecting Wall-E.
And as anything else done in Hollywood, it's all in the pre-post release marketing.
IMO.
