332 Air Force Theater Hospital by Matt Blonde
6 months ago
I hoped to capture in a solemn and respectufull way, the work of all the fine medical staff of the Air Force Theater hospital in Balad Iraq. I served as a member of the trauma team and took on the addtional task of capturing the final days, the movement of patients and the candid moments of the hospital staff prior to demolition of the hospital. This was a very traumatic and rewarding trip for all of us, we worked very hard and saw the worst of what war has to offer and we saw some great successes as well. There are many videos out there, motivational ones with rock n roll etc... I set out to make this a more reverent and respectful look at life as a medic, doctor, nurse etc. Many lives were lost and saved at that hospital, thousands! every life was touched or changed in some way. We all left something over there we all brought back something as well. I brought back great memories of friends, devastating ones of those lost and a new sense of the importance of living for today. I hope this moves some of you, and please leave all politics out of your comments, please.
P.S. I miss you "you guys"
Sincerely,
Matt
