1. 332 Air Force Theater Hospital by Matt Blonde
1 year ago
I hoped to capture in a solemn and respectufull way, the work of all the fine medical staff of the Air Force Theater hospital in Balad Iraq. I served as a member of the trauma team and took on the addtional task of capturing the final days, the movement of patients and the candid moments of the hospital staff prior to demolition of the hospital. This was a very traumatic and rewarding trip for all of us, we worked very hard and saw the worst of what war has to offer and we saw some great successes as well. There are many videos out there, motivational ones with rock n roll etc... I set out to make this a more reverent and respectful look at life as a medic, doctor, nurse etc. Many lives were lost and saved at that hospital, thousands! every life was touched or changed in some way. We all left something over there we all brought back something as well. I brought back great memories of friends, devastating ones of those lost and a new sense of the importance of living for today. I hope this moves some of you, and please leave all politics out of your comments, please.

P.S. I miss you "you guys"

Sincerely,
Matt

Hey, very nice, and definitely respectful. The good thing about taking on your own projects like this is it greatly helps you pinpoint your style and take on filming and editing. Especially when they're not short clips but an extended edit. Thanks for your service, and for your comments.

    Roger Avie,
Matt I am a friend of Susan's and a Disabled Vietnam Vet. I was deeply moved by your work on this video and I want to thank you on behalf of all veterans like myself that have been thru "the system" and treated by the dedicated medical staffs of both wars.

Susan is a great friend to have, what a great and inpiring woman. I really appreciate your service and I'm glad that the system was good to you. We really try to treat our wounded like royalty and they should get nothing less. I'll be heading out again soon, this time doing aeromedical Evac, probably no videos this time...

It's a different "feel" (if you know what i mean)working under this president, my focus is going to be soley on the mission, bringing wounded hero's home and providing the best care we can.

    Thanks again Roger
