A winter starling roost is one of those 'wonders of nature'. Thousands of birds meeting up each evening to put on a show of aerobatics that builds into a whirling blend of shapes, where individuals are subsumed by the whole. That it occurs at dusk means the pictures are in poor light, but the flavour is there. This one was at Newport wetlands.
