(If the clip stutters a bit, click on pauze and wait untill its downloaded and press play!)
This time in one take Sanyo Xacti HD1000 straight from camerafile 1280x720 60fs. My friends (very polite but very poor) from a township called Khula (sheds without water and electricity) outside St.Lucia KwaZuluNatal South Africa. This group performs for tourist on restaurant terraces in St.Lucia and here at the arrivaldeck from a hippo boattour on St.Lucia River at sunset. They sing and swing really great just like the other famous Zulugroup Ladysmith Black Mombazo this music style is called Isicathamiya. Made famous by Paul Simon. They rehearse a lot and we hope to make them famous also. Help them please if you can. We also produced this time a CD for them and next time a DVD also for selling to the tourists.
Please also search for "Khula Happy Singers" on YouTube for our one year old clip as promo for a great and very affordable B&B in St.Lucia. Absolutely one of the best spots to spent a few weeks in Zululand, close to the best diving spots SodwanaBay, Elephant coast, birds (Trompetbills), monkeys, wild Hippo's, Crocks and HluHluwe Imfolozi wildpark.
SHIPPING THE CD and THE MAKING OF PHOTO'S
I'm so pleased Victoria aked if she can buy a CD. This will make them and me (for them) utmost happy. These guys have no other income. Hope many of you will visit them. Its worthwhile. They have a very nice (sponsorred) infocentre at Khula Township entrance and do township tours. We also visited a Sangome and they peform us a Zulu wedding dance. Please have a look at youtube search for "Zulu Wedding Dance" We will sent you the CD. Just mail me (hdv@live.nl) your address and I will sent you one. They sell it for it for 100 rand say $10. Thankx in advance. Some of our the making of photo's you find here: picasaweb.google.nl/VideographersCentre/GroetjesUitAflevering11?authkey=ZhFw6ml340Q

This video is a response to robert tucker's request:
Hi Jan, I have added your video of the Khula Happy Singers as a blog on my music website, www.indizoo.com. Nice work...

One of the best Xacti clips I saw.
It shows the great potential of this little cam.
Any filter used?
In the meantime Jan and me also are using the Sony Vegas Pro 8 for editing the xacti files, works smooth and perfect, even with low-speed computers.

The sound quality is actually pretty amazing!
Beautiful sunset with your subjects offset by the light-colored grasses... really cool!
Thanks for the post!
This little cam is really capable doing some nice shots...
I've also made my "Nova Mar Bella Surfing" movie with that cam... but the colors were not so good at that day... ;-))

One of the videos I liked best on Vimeo - great music, great presence, great background. Congrats to the group and the producer. I hope they stay happy as they look.
Curious about the meaning of the song.
nice shot really
there is a thing i would ask to you
i see background not fine. especially 1.50 and follow , sky and water are really bad in pixels
just would like to know if this is due to compression or present as well in raw from cam?
i 'm in the mood of getting one as for absolute portability, but , browsing shots around , i've seen little problems such as pixels and focus hunting
could you tell me you sincere opinion about it
thanks
Sound quality: beautiful.
Wish it were shot with an image stabilization contraption, because this piece is so worthy of it!

what are they saying?

The Sanyo Xacti HD1010 will be on sale in Japan from June 20, 2008.
Just as you said: Fantastic!
Even worst, for the sunday's mass, the battery was dead alread T.T
BTW, I also came to meet so poor but so nice people. Not having almost anything, they wouldn't mind giving their houses for you to sleep and staying with them. I felt so honoured that they invited us to a wedding. I have a short video (if anyone wants to see), but the overall quality (even the editing) is REALLY poor.
Btw I'm sure you meant to refer the Khula Happy Singers to Ladysmith Black Mambaso instead of Mombasa. But I'm often confused with Mombasa as well after visiting it in Kenya's Coast.
Whenever someone wants to come with us to do some more videopromo's and docs. for these people is highly welcome! (Even visit a Sangoma! See Picasa photolink on top page) We will go again febr/march 2009 again please drop me a line if you want more info : studio@Global-DVC.NL.
And sorry and thank you, but changed Mombasa into MombaZo this is the spelling on their albums!

That was a touching experience.
