Oh yeah man! Eyes smilin', ears happy! Being a nature junkie, a big lover of downtempo grooves & of course a fan of your filming & editing style...
This one does it! I like this one McCarthy! I've said it before, but what the hell...

What a magnificent place. Nicely edited and fits the groove well. I enjoyed the combo of macro and wide angle shots.

Great work, as always. How did you do the ever-changing focusing Charlie? Did you use the focusing stick, or something else?
  • Charlie McCarthy 5 months ago
Thanks Eugenia, I did it all by hand. It took me awhile but i finally got use to doing it just by sliding my finger.

Seriously, you are so good that I have to not let it discourage me but rather motivate me.
I admit, I do find myself looking at my stuff compared to your stuff and thinking, why can't I get it to look like yours, Bloom's, Dempsey's....

  • Charlie McCarthy 5 months ago
I feel the same way but that makes me try even harder each time.

ok...Essex....is this the name of the area? and is it in the US? because it looks a lot like somewhere called Essex in the UK....very similar indeed....have you ever been there? because you would know what I mean.....and being an outdoor man myself I see the similarities straight away...nice vid.
  • Charlie McCarthy 5 months ago
Yes Essexville is the name of the area and it is in the US. I am farmilliar with Essex but I have never been there but I would like to go someday.
  • Mike Gill 5 months ago
Some parts of Essex in the UK are very nice indeed....especially near the waters edge - down by the sea by the boats....lots of old fishing villages there...you'd love it for sure....haven't been there for years though...I did a load of sailing down there when i was a kid.....was great fun...

Wow, that was nice camwork Charlie, along with your own editing style nicely folowing the beat (wich wasn't to hard to follow I think).
Love the way how it all falls into place. How do you manage to do that, but maybe it's your secret... :)

    Beautiful, sir.

How do you get the vignetting, if it's digital? I was using a mix of an oval and rectangle mask, and feathering the edges...
  • Charlie McCarthy 5 months ago
Thanks Cameron It was all digital and i did a slight circle mask with full feathering.

Just watched this again. What exactly is this place? It looks like a great spot to visit, and kind of tourist friendly with the walkway there.
  • Charlie McCarthy 4 months ago
It starts out as a boat launch site that leads out to the bay. Its a nice place to walk but it only looks nice a few times out of the year.
