This is a comparing shot from my Canon HF100 with wide-angel lense "Canon WD-H37" (not WD-H37C!). With a wide-angel lense the HD-format (16:9) definately grows up to what I would call a cinema-look'n'feel.

The WD-H37 Version is not recommended for HF100 but the WD-H37C. I also made the same shot with the WD-H37C. You can find it at my uploaded files, too.

this is great info. Thanks for doing this. I'm wondering what you are editing with?

    Thanks for doing this.

Besides the time of day and I assume this was hand held (no tripod) there really isn't much of a difference for the almost double price of the "C" model.

So now that you have both have you noticed any differences? Would you recommend one over the other?
Does one lens fit better or not block as much up front?

Maybe you can snap a shot of each lens side by side and or each lens mounted on the camera, so we can see a physical difference of the lens.

I'm still convinced it's canon's marketing which accounts for all the difference. New camera discontinue the old lens and introduce a new higher priced lens.

    Thanks again.

I hope you're right Angelo. My non-C hasn't arrived yet and I'm desperate to try it out!

Yeah me too! But I'm still happy with the lens for the price I paid.

The only bummer I found was when I used a UV filter and the wide lens, there was a little black vignetting at full zoom out.

But I've also found that I'm using the wide lens most often. So IF I don't plan on using the wide lens and I'm going to be outdoors (especially if it's a dusty place) then I can easily pop on the UV filter and film.

I really would do this comparing shots for you, but I have had the WD-H37 just one time on my cam, because the online shop from where I ordered send me this instead of the WD-H37C. So after I send it back and got the c-version I just could try to make the same shot for comparing both lenses.

So I really can't say whether the WD-H37 works as same as the WD-H37C. There was no much time to test the first lense. I'm sorry. All I could do is what you can see here in the uploaded two samples.

    Yes, thanks CFR.

Am I right in saying neither version has a filter thread on them? How are you using your UV filter then Angelo?
