I was in the Philippines and went through an intersection where the city had removed its traffic light because no one paid attention to it anyway. Great video!

    color corrected or raw?
  • vinceslas plus 1 year ago
Completly raw, the wet asphalt helps with the colours.

I have read some reports on major cities taking out traffic controls at their busiest intersections when those intersections include pedestrians, bikes and motorized vehicles. (Like this one)

They say that people adapt and there are way fewer accidents. The reports also said that the traffic moves and flows faster than with the controls.

In this video, you can see that pedestrians, bikes, motor scooters and cars all move in harmony with one another. You also see a lack of SUVs.
  • vinceslas plus 1 year ago
You are absolutely correct Bill, at first you think "oh my god, I'm gonna die if I cross here" but you end up crossing by foot or motorbike without any harm.

People are very cautious in these situations, the only rule is basically to always pass behind whatever is in front of you in order not to disrupt their move forward.

    Very cool.
I liked that you used different angles, I've seen more of vids like these (traffic at night=beautiful) but they always have just one angle.
    So kudos to you Vince!

Considering the ever increasing price of gasoline, I suspect American cities might look more like this in the not too distant future.

Holy Cow, that was awesome and eye-opening. Crazy is the word alright. I'm amazed nobody got run down.

Thanks for putting the settings up. I didn't realise my HV20 was that good. I'll keep that in mind for future productions.

I have an HV20 so have to wonder, how did you do the time lapse? Was is a camera setting or in the video editing? Really looks wonderful.

  • vinceslas plus 1 year ago
Realy simple, just use a tripod, put it on TV mode with the shutter speed set at 6 and then go to Hanoi and wait until the rain is over :)
In editing just ad just a little bit of saturation and that's it.

What music did you use? It fits really well.
  • vinceslas plus 1 year ago
it's called "into the 90's" and the artist is called Photek

Great choice of music. Ending on, "Welcome to madness... and death." The samples convey what you'd expect but the laid back pace reflects the reality.

I loved the beginning more, with the Cinema mode. The perfect combination of time lapse and real-time.

    Lovely!

Organized Chaos. Crazy, but great viewing. I was just waiting to see a collision. I would not be surprised to find out that it doesn't happen that frequently.

Excellent ! j'adore !!! Je me demandai combien de temps dure le plan séquence sans l'accélération pour obtenir ces quais 2 minutes de vidéo une fois le montage terminer ? Les couleurs sont magnifique !
  • vinceslas plus 1 year ago

Like I said, I'm not surprised. I would like to see it at regular speed. Does it still look dangerous?

The memories are still there 12 months later, we were warned about the traffic, but there was no road rage or abuse, well done with the clip it just makes you wanna go back, the whole experience is surreal

    Thanks
