2. Things screencast: linking to files
This short screencast will demonstrate how to attach files to Things items by linking to them.

Be sure to check out Things, Cultured Code's GTD application, at culturedcode.com/things.

I hope you find this demo useful. You can leave feedback in the comments.

Will it maintain the link after moving the mail message to another mail folder?

It does NOT seem to maintain the link when you move the message, but I can only test it with IMAP mail messages. It does seem to contain the link to files on your drive when you move them.

I'm not sure about the inner workings of the linking, so they may or may not be able to resolve the issue.

    Fantastic screencasts. Thank you!

I'm only just starting with Things, so I wish you'd done *loads* of others, right from the beginning. (That's me being greedy :-) )

BTW, does the link to emails only work with Mail? I use GMail

@Jane: thanks! When I have some spare time I will add some more, I promise. Linking to e-mails seems to be integration with the mail application, so it will only work there. But then again, I read my Gmail via IMAP in Mail, so it still works fine for me.

I dragged a website address to Things dock icon, and created a new task: watch Arjan van der Gaag's videos re Things.

    It worked.

That's great info...thanks Arjan! First, the link-to-attachment holds if you move a POP email...maybe that was already addressed, though. I'm not able to drag whole messages to the Things icon. Nothing happens. This would be extremely useful...anyone have any tips? [PowerBook running 10.4.11]

@Nathan: I believe this requires 10.5 or greater.
