WONG: Angry locals in western India attack a gas station over rumors that it was hoarding gas. This comes at a time when the whole country is tense over a soon to be imposed increase in fuel prices. STORY:Indian locals in the western city of Aurangabad went berserk when they were deprived of petrol for two days. They attacked the filling station yesterday for allegedly hoarding the gas. An opposition party has gotten involved in the fray.[Bhagwat Karad, Bharatiya Janata Party]:"They have hidden petrol in their station. The prices of petrol and diesel are likely to increase in few days and so they are hoarding it now.”BJP activists staged a rally riding cycles and bullock carts to protest the imminent fuel price hike. Last week, ministry officials proposed to raise petrol prices by 22 percent and diesel prices by 15 percent.But officials and analysts say the federal government is expected to significantly tone down the price hike because of electoral setback for the ruling party and inflation fears.
