Brothers Allen and Harold Hakala live in the Northwoods of Wisconsin with no electricity, no running water, and no company but each other and some distant friends. The brothers live as modern day pioneers. They are jacks of all trades, do odd jobs to live, and make things before they buy. This film was shot and edited circa 2002-2003.

that's great that they were so eager to show you everything. how long did you spend up there with these guys?

thanks for watching the video. My family owns property about a mile away from their homestead so I would spend all day with them for about 4 weekends during that summer. I shot about 40 hours of footage. I wish I had time to go back up there to shoot some more if they allowed me. They are still doing fine up there and going strong.
