Here are three quick tips for working with projects in Things: you can order them around, schedule and repeat them, and you can add them to areas. In this screencast I use Things 0.9.2.1.

Be sure to check out things at culturedcode.com/things. I hope you find this screencast useful; you can leave any feedback in the comments.

BRILLIANT! I never thought to use areas as a way to aggregate projects and it addresses a nagging problem I've been having in organizing my projects. Thank you!

On an off-topic note: What are you doing your titles in and how are you editing your Screencasts? I make them myself for clients and I'm just curious.

    Thanks again!

@Michael: thanks! I create the titles in Keynote, then export them to PNG's which I import into Screenflow (varasoftware.com/products/screenflow). Screenflow is not cheap but it works like a charm.

I use Screenflow as well, but have been transferring the video into iMovie to do titles there. I think turn things around and go the other way now that I see how you use the program. Thanks for the tip!

@Michael: yeah, Srceenflow works great with still images so there's no reason to bring out the big guns for that. Good luck!

I'm curious how you use tags. As far as I can tell its not possible to do a universal search (i.e., all tasks) for a tag but rather have to search project by project. Is that right? Do you have a way of working with this?

@Connie: as I understand it universal search is a feature coming up. Right now you're right, you'll have to do it by hand. But then again, I've never found the need to use it. I use the Today or Next focus that shows all my relevant tasks, or I browse per project. I don't use tags to be able to find tasks, I use tags to categorize them in a certain project or area. So I guess this depends on your tagging system. I might do a screencast on tags soon.

Thanks a lot! Now I understand the purpose of Areas.
And you promised screencast about tags - what about it?

Hi Arjan - thanks so much for these tips! I am reorganizing my Things lists now & felt a disconnect between the Projects & Areas... this screencast really helped clear it up for me.

    Thanks!
