I promised a friend from another website that I would put a video behind his song. Well, that was almost a year ago now and all I have is this visual story board.
The two video's used for this were sourced from the public domain under a creative commons license. This is an idea on how I would like to shoot this video for real. Oh, I know it has faults - that's why it has taken me almost a year to show it in public...
Who knows, maybe someday I will shoot something like this for real ;-)
This one is for you Bob (a.k.a. leadguitarman1) - be well bud :)

Couldn't really fault it, except perhaps the scenes involving the couple appear to be in a country where people drive on the right, and the motorbike is being driven on the left - but I guess he (?) could have gone abroad...
And perhaps if you could have found a beach scene of a similar couple (even a "much loved", slightly dogeared, still photo of happier times) in a kind of misty sepia haze, to fit the lyrics "memories like grains of sand, lying helpless on a beach" as she falls asleep in bed...
Just a couple of small (probably irrelevant) suggestions, bud, but overall a really fine video that complements Ground Zero's song perfectly: reflecting the mutial melancholy felt during the break up of a relationship, which you have enhanced by the use of black and white footage - well put together and worth waiting for!
I had so many ideas when I originally put this together it was difficult to keep momentum and consistency with the music. The original story board I did for this involved a panning shot across Lake Michigan on a warm sunset evening back to an older couple sitting on the edge of a pier - however, due the the Creative Commons license attached to it it meant that I could only use it on its own and no derivative works were permitted - ah well :(
However, I did stick to the plan and that was to use 100% Creative Commons material to create something new and yet make it look like that it was intended to be edited like that. I almost achieved that, but somehow it still niggles me that it is not quite right... Guess it was not as easy as I originally thought eh?
Well, I'm glad someone likes it - now I can let it drift away and think of something else to make ;-)
Incidentally, both clips involve traffic driving on the left (I deliberately chose them for continuity), only at around 5:10 I recycled a clip and flipped it horizontally and then forgot about it - so 10 out of 10 for observations on your part :D
Looking forward to seeing your next project, maybe another documentary/drama in gritty Tyneside monochrome, or perhaps a timelapse sequence portraying a blaze of colour from those Essex skies...
