  • Very well put together film guys with lots of interesting footage topped with some very beautiful scenes - you mention the night shots not being very good ... well I think they look pretty good, and they look like `night` shots as they should - auto mode would try and turn night into day.
Love the slow motion and the `people` shots in the town.
The fire scene looked very realistic - perfect shot there.

I must also mention the music ... this is a very polished track Tracy, beautifully sung with great production values ... overall, excellent!

    Thanks Chris. :)
Yeah, the night shots were better than we thought they would be....obviously not as clear focus as with day-light, but I guess your eyes aren't as good in low light either.

A few people are telling me they are having problems with the sound skipping on this one. I wonder why you didn't seem to have a problem with the audio?
I know these HD clips take a lot longer to download but to have three people telling me they can't hear the audio properly?

Hmm...it seems that for some people downloading HD is proving to be a bit of a problem.

  • No problem with audio Tracy, sounds great from this end, though a lot depends on how good your broadband is, and your PC hardware.

Also, the HD we watch on Vimeo isn't what I would call `real` HD, its rather a new kind of `Flash` technology, in fact the same as I will be using on my new HD-Visuals site that's in development.

Working at home with HD i.e. editing & playback, demands a good graphics card that's setup right, otherwise you'll get all kinds of visual problems that many will blame the camera for.
I had to upgrade various bits of hardware & software to deal with HD to a good standard, though I'm lucky with the audio side of things as my PC is interlinked with my 24 bit studio via a Roland digital mixer and class A amp.

I remember talking to David the other week, and he reported very poor audio performance from Vimeo - I'm starting to think that good streaming performance is very `area` dependent - on my 8 meg Broadband I'm getting very good results from the UK.

The download from Vimeo is of course your original 720p file in WMV format - I use HD Mpeg for my file rendering, but regardless, anyone downloading HD files will need the right gear to play it back - including all the needed codec's ... playback on Vimeo is different, all you need is good broadband and Flash media 9.

Hi, David appears to be able to watch this with no audio problems (no stuttering) and I'm not having any real trouble. Of course it takes a while to buffer... but they are pretty huge files!
I think David and I pretty much have the same kind of broadband. Not the super duper fast one that you are lucky enough to have!
Yeah, I guess it depends on internet speeds.
Oh well....my parents will just have to believe me that this camera is capable of some pretty amazing stuff! :)

I think its best to remind ourselves why we wanted to pick up a camera and shoot footages. Coz we want to share special moments or events with others who are not able to be there. Or just to keep the memory fresh and alive. Like footprints in the sand.

Today you've brought me to York. And what a wonderful place it is! Its just your 2nd project, and you did incredible from capture to delivery. I'm all excited to watch more footages from Down Under. I wish to say 'forget the technicality and just shoot'. Coz you have the knack on creating great compositions. Which brings me to this other bit - Music.

Tracy, you bloody well deserve much more recognition for your talent! You're so vocally diverse and I'll be damned if you play the instruments yourself too. Even if its MIDI base with software instruments; production and originality wise, you got me right in the face. By that I mean its SO THAT GOOD! There's a track I heard from your site called Big Blue Ocean and another of your previous post called The Shore. They're stuck in my head as Tracy Lundgren's hits.

If only you were in Holland, I'd have loved to help you re-record these tracks with real musicians backing your formidable talents. Shongololos included. :) Are you residing in Perth?

    Hey thanks! :)
Btw....what IS your real name? lol!
I'm very pleased that you like what I have done so far. Well, WE....my husband Richard helped with filming some of this too.

I'm really hoping that we will be ready, filming wise, by the time we head off on our big trip at the end of July to the "outback".
There are some AMAZING places out there and I really want to be 100% confident with the camera.
Don't want to mess up any shots because it's a bloody long way to go back! :)

I want to be able to share my passion for this country....especially the centre of Australia, which is so uniquely beautiful and......well, it's just not like anything else I have ever experienced.
Uluru (Ayers rock) is just the most magical, spiritual place....you can almost FEEL some kind of strange energy out there in the earth.
There have been times I have felt as though I am being "watched" out there in the desert. Not a scary feeling...just like somehow you are being observed, and yet there is not a soul for miles.
I'm not sure that filming it will even be able to capture THAT essence of it....but I will try!

Thanks also for the comments on my music.
I'm glad you have enjoyed some of my creations. :)

I gather from reading in your profile that music also is one of your passions.
So you are a sound engineer?
I wish you were in Perth! :) And yes, Perth is currently where we are living but we are only here for a few years.
    Originally we came from Newcastle/Sydney.
We're here with the aim of exploring THIS side of Australia ....although having said that it's kind of strange that Australia's red centre is luring us back once again!

Thanks again for watching and commenting.

    Hello Tracy.

It's always good to welcome another Aussie to Vimeo :-)

I enjoyed my trip with you to Cape York and I thoroughly enjoyed your superb music. Bravo!

Did you have to ford the river at which appears at 1:45?

I think my favorite scenes were the clumps of spindly Eucalypts at 2:25, those wonderful purple flowers at 2:35 and the hillside at 3:15. Marvelous!

Finally, out of professional curiosity: where were you when you filmed the kids running on the racecourse at 3:05?

    A very enjoyable film.

    Kindest regards,
    Arnold

    Hi Arnold.
    Thanks for watching!
Not CAPE York though :) only a town called York, which is about an hours drive from where we now live here in WA.
We stayed in a caravan park there and behind it was a racecourse. Someone dared my kids to run around it....so of course they DID. Ran right through the sprinklers too (as children do) and soaked the ONLY shoes they had.

I loved those pinky purple flowers and have since seen them sprouting everywhere in my neighbourhood.
    Lovely!

    Oh and fording the river?
Well.....the children ran ahead of us and of course impulsively jumped across the river.........and wet their shoes all over again!
    (As children do!)

Next time I will remember to take extra sets of sneakers.
The drive home was unpleasant with stinky wet shoe smell wafting from the back of the car.
But still....I'd rather that than have them get square eyes from watching too many darn SCREENS.
It's good to get kids away from computers and TV's and out in the great outdoors we have here in Australia.
