This is my current showreel of work I have done the past year. Most is shot on HVX200/mini35 with Zeiss optics, but some also on Sonys new EX1.

Visit hkarlsen.no/eng for more information about me and my work.

Thanks

The only ones shot on EX1 is the action sequenses. The guy with the shotgun and when he fights with the policeofficer. Also the very last clip. Check out my website for better h264 720p version.

thanks everyone. Really appreciate the comments. EX1 vs HVX200 is all a matter of taste. For me, I lean towards because of better interface, format flexibilty and better ergonomics

I just bought an hvx200a and i dont understand how to import 720p footage on vimeo because they ask for 720/1280 and the actual size of what i filmed is 720/960 ... any tips ?
  •
  • Håvar Karlsen plus 1 year ago
Hi! They ask for 1280/720, not the other way around :) HVX200 shoots in 960/720 natively and stretches it in post. So, when you import you DVCPROHD 720p material, you sequence should be setup for an anamorphic pixel aspect ratio, that is strecthing the pixels. If not, just force the output to 1280x720, and it should be fine

  • That was easily one of the most realistic gun fight scenes I've ever seen! How much of that was post work? The glass shattering was amazing.

Hi, and thanks! Nothing is done in post, as you can see, the ear protection is not removed and were gonna do that in post. The guns fired live blanks, but with no muzzle flash (only chambre flash) and the glass was broken during the shoot (a guy with a hammer above my frame).

Thanks again, the film is in post right now and I will post it here when ready

This is Justice- Genesis, dont tell anyone :)
Which condenser shotgun mic we used? I think it was a sennheiser, and some wireless lavs in addition to that

EX1 has better resolition in full hd, no doubt. Nice features like hi-res screen and 720p50 for slow motion. Drains a lot of batteries though. I'd go for EX3 right now, but things change fast.

great reel! I'm curious, did you have a lot of vignetting issue w/ the HVX200-mini35 setup? How did you overcome them?
