Pipistrelle Bats Emerging from a Roost in Dorset : 5 June 2008
6 months ago
This colony of pipistrelle (soprano - we think) bats were found to be emerging from under the tiles of a 1970's house in Dorset at about 9.15pm.
In total we counted approx. 520. Yes, 520... If you listen carefully you can hear them all chattering before they fly out.
This roost is one of the larger ones in Dorset and is probably a maternity roost so the numbers are likely to rise even more over the coming weeks!
