Rainbow swing set no warranty service
I purchased a rainbow swing set from Pete Delois' recreations outlet on April5, 2008 (not in March as I state in the video) in Powell Ohio. Hardware was missing, a board was missing, and boards were damaged during installation.
On June 24, they showed up unexpectedly and fixed most of the issues, even minor issues, and said that they would be back to fix some others.
The biggest problem with the rainbow warranty service, is that there is zero feedback. You do not know if they even received your warranty requests. They even missed an appointment made by my wife.
This is an expensive quality product, and I expected it to be installed correctly and safely. I fixed some issues myself, and after a few months, they are now fixing issues too. The worst part is that the warranty department does not responded. In other words, no communication. I purchased a rainbow so that I would not need to worry about these specific issues.
I had intended to create a video showing my children playing on the swings and slide, but instead, I have a video showing what is broken, and what I fixed myself.
I made this video with my trusty Canon HV30. I used cineform as the intermediate format after ripping the video from the camera, Sony Vegas Pro 8.0 to edit the video, and Audacity to create the voice-overs.
I had not previously used Audacity, but I was very impressed with the quality of the product...
I will post another video later detailing some of the good things about the product. I must say, however, that Rainbow's swings come in two heights. The lower end set is lower to the ground. Although you might not think about this when you are shopping, a lower bar means a shorter chain on the swing. A shorter chain on the swing means that arc traveled by the person on the swing is shorter and the experience is not as good. Also, some attachments just won't work as well on the shorter swing (the basket you can lay in, for example). I did not notice this in the store because they had no swings attached to the sets with the lower bars.
I would not have purchased the taller set because I can not afford it, but it is something to think about, and it was a bit surprising when the swings acted differently than I had experienced in the store. I suspect that another difference may be that my swing set is not level; I will check that later and then perhaps level it myself.
