In the $53,850 Junos Request Stakes, Eyesa Country Miss turned the tables on Eye Caughtcha Peekin to win the Grade 3 race for fillies and mares at 400 yards. Earlier in May, Eye Caughtcha Peekin finished first, ahead of Eyesa Country Miss in the Oklahoma Merial Distaff Challenge.
Owned by the Rafter SM Ranch of Wagoner, Okla. and trained by Sparky Mullins, Eyesa Country Miss used a great start to get the leading advantage, then maintaining it to win by a neck in :19.913. Carter had the winning ride.
Eye Caughtcha Peekin finished three-quarters of a length in front of LD American Maid who was third.
The 13th win in a 36-race career, Eyesa Country Miss added the Junos Request to her Decketta Handicap in March this season. She has won six career races at Remington Park. A 6-year-old gray mare by Mr Eye Opener from the Zevi mare Country Zevi, Eyesa Country Miss earned $32,750 to run her lifetime total to $213,915.
The Junos Request is named after a past multiple stakes winning mare and Remington Park Champion from the mid 1990s.
