Wonderful video, Mr. Johnson. But not nearly as good as your essay on Cohen. When you identify him as a tribal elder, as "a decoder ring for a vanished age," and when you describe his decision to include his almost-greatest hits in his current concert tour as "decanting songs that have been cellared for so long," you evoke the spirit of the romantic lyricism that is Leonard. Bravo!

    How banal.

So his inspiration comes from his alcoholic addiction - which he needs to perform - but which makes him tired - so he can't tour - but he's broke because somebody took advantage of him while he was drunk - so he has no money - and he has to work to pay his bills - so he can keep drinking - and people can fall at his feet to worship his greatness - so he can be inspired.

I think I've summarized this piece.
