sweet! the shot with the stick and the chalk is wicked!
  • agreed that was really nicely done.

  • love the shadows on the text. well done. :)

  • Loved the shots there. Kind of wished there were more wider shots too mixed in making the pool table look like a landscape or something.

    Very nice test indeed!
Hi Michael, could you give us a little bit of information about the camera you used and other hardware ?

used the canon xh-a1. shot it on the average film preset and just loaded the color correcting on in final cut. made sure the blacks were very dark and the shadows were dramatic. but nothing else used besides the xh and fcp!

If you want the film look, don't push it too far either, as film would give you a soft and smooth color curve. Especially the hightlight spots on the balls are a bit harsh. Also, to not get too much night feeling, try using a reflector. But it won't be as dramatic tough.

Killer shots. The first thing that is makes something look video and not film is the Highlights. when something is to bright with video it just looses all information. A great way to make sure your not peeking is by using the zebras. I love the chalk shot. looks great.

cool stuff. did you mess with the gain at all? what did it look like at -3db? i notice a little noise in the shots due to the lack of light, were you on manual or auto gain control?

Really nice shots and editing Michael, the whole thing has a real sleek look to it!

I love your music choice too, 'Crutch' is one of my favorite Pinback songs. Don't get pissed if I use it in the future! :)

    Hello,

I added one of your video's to the XH-A1 group on VIMEO.
If you want, you can add yourself and all the XH-A1 video's to the group also, just by using the ADD function next to each video.

I hope to see much of your work online,

    Gert
