This is a re-edit of human movement in light. I took everyones comments from the first edit and tried to improve on it. In this one i tweaked the glow effect, i stabalized all the vibration in the dolly shots, and i took a song that i got a licensed to use and remixed it. Music from Moby Gratis

This edit has a more delicate, soft texture to it which turns into something more playful than the first version. I like both but I find it hard to judge this version without prejudice from viewing the first.

I like this version much better. There is better shot selection and variation, better rhythm, and the added editing effects are great.

This is a really stunning piece.

Totally agree. I love the titles, and the music selection this time around. The windmill shot at 1:50 is incredible.
  • Ben Millett 1 year ago
I have to agree with Blake. This version was much more powerful. The other felt like it was the same jump shown multiple times, but this had a great variety of moves. The effects were more controlled, too, which made the acrobatics stronger.

Hmmm frankly this version is much softer than the previous one and after watching it and having in memory the old one I've been missing something. So I've watched previous one again and I know what I'm missing - life and expression. But after all once again great video with a great touch.

this edit definitely has another tone to it especially alongside the new audio track...i think they stand alone by themselves and are two great pieces...my advice is to submit the edit you have all the rights to to a few film festivals to see what happens...i can almost guarantee it will get in somewhere...maybe try the European film festivals...they're free to submit to ususally...here's a website that i use to find and submit to festivals: shortfilmdepot.com or try withoutabox.com. great work though man...can't wait to see the next post...

I would have to say that this version is smoother and a lot more polished than ver. #1. A very solid effort, congrats!

I have to agree with Viperos. The mood of the piece has changed entirely, and on its own, its great. But for me, the first piece had more 'raw-ness'. The variety on this edit is better...but the music didn't have the same energy to carry the visuals as version 1.

How is this "glow effect" done? In post i assume, what program was used?
  • Jordan Clarke plus 1 year ago
yeah i actually got a plugin in from fx factory called optical glow. You tweak it around the video, much the same as the glow effects in after effects.

i have to say that the original is better. i mixed better and it felt like it went together better. keep up the great work but keep some of your original stuff. if you like me i re-edit stuff a couple times when the first version is what i put the most dedication into and it is usually the best.
  •
  • i like this, but i liked the tempo of the last one more as it was more in your face and woooooww. But its still great Jordan well done.

    Hey,
I like your work, the HVX200 looks pretty good, doesn't ?
  •
  • I didn't know the HVX200 shot a frame speed that fast. What was the fps? I'd some work with a Sony HDV Z1U.. it looks good and all, but when dealing with slow motion, it's not good what so ever because it doesn't shoot that high of a frame speed. Where was this shot?

You should do a series of 'extreme walking' videos like this one, as one might do skate videos etc. you've already got the obligatory 'fisheye' lens i see.
Looks great, but I like the music from the first better. Maybe I'm just a sucker for those bands, and you chose some of their best songs in the first one.
Titles were definitely an improvement, but I thought it would be cool if the titles could actually move in a 'human' way that would be cool- or maybe get people to spell out the title with their bodies and key that in? Just a thought- If I remember you said that this is for a class project, and I'm sure that you're ready to move on from this. Great work!

Can you please describe the workflow you used to achieve the fantastic slow-motion effects? (What frame rates did you shoot in, what did you capture it as, what did you export it as?) I also use the HVX200 and FCP...

Your videos are incredible! Keep pushing the limits and never stop filming!

Great re-work man. the smoothed dolly shots are incredible.

I would have to say that this music selection doesn't really build enough energy, or release. It just seems like there was so much energy put into the subjects- its almost a juxtapostion (i think thats the right word). Still absorbing.....
