4. Vedauwoo.
Shot on a quick jaunt up to Vedauwoo in Wyoming. Fantastic rock formations, and even a bit of wildlife. Unfortunately, I was shooting in heavy sunlight, which didn't help the image quality any. Graded as best I could for now.

Music by Amon Tobin. Cut with Final Cut Pro, graded with Apple Color. Shot with the Sony EX1 at 1920x1080 @ 24p on a Satchler DV6SB head/tripod.

Thanks everyone! Actually, I didn't use a 35mm adapter; this is just the stock camera. I've had my eye on the LEX for a while now, but don't have it yet.

Jan, not sure what your question is about the music, but it's a track by Amon Tobin.

Beautiful work. I think the heavy sunlight just added to it.

  • Nice work! Could you tell me the name of the track by Amon Tobin?
  • Justin VanAlstyne 1 year ago
Óskar, the track is "4 Ton Mantis", from the album "Supermodified" (2000).

How do you like the Apple Color program compared to other color grading programs?
  • Justin VanAlstyne 1 year ago
To be honest, I only have experience in Color, so I jumped in with both feet. I come from a photo background and Adobe Lightroom type controls, so grading was a completely new field. I find Color to be somewhat tedious and not always intuitive, but it is powerful if you are comfortable in the interface and take the time to jump around through the rooms to tweak endlessly. I was going to jump on the Magic Bullet Looks train, but I like the precise tweaking that Color offers vs. the prebuilt "looks" of MBL.

Fantastic color grading. I think the color grading made a lot of difference.
