Autobahn Country Club North Track. June 22, 2008. Today was great. At the last minute a buddy of mine let me know of this track day sponsored by Autobarn Mazda. That's right. While Mitsubishi is voiding warranties for racing their race car, Mazda is sponsoring track days. The instructors for this track day were amazing. All professional drivers or instructors of some capacity.

They were standing at certain corners and gave incredibly useful comments after every session. They also were big fans of trail braking, which I started to work on. I'm finding it difficult to keep my foot on the brake deep into the turn, but I'm slowly getting there.

This is my first time back to Autobahn since my incident a few years ago and it really shows me how much I've learned since then. I'm so much more confident in my driving and while I still make a lot of mistakes, I recognize them and know how to fix them (implementing those fixes is the problem). My laps were usually in the 1:19 or 1:20's, but I hit 1:18 a few times as well. I don't know if that's good, but I'm happy with my improvement throughout the day.
