A meditation cycle using the concept of Brian Eno's "Music for Airports" as its sole inspiration.

This continues my bizarre, near fanatical obsession of putting to video all of Brian Eno's long form music. This also is another example brought forth of "Do While" vimeo.com/648361 . The same procedure applies of not having to watch the entire thing. Select a moment and sit back. However one would miss the gradual minutiae occurring over time. This is not the follow up mentioned on the Do While page but I guess if you didn't like that one.....

Making ambient music which acted more as aural wallpaper than anything grounded in melody, Brian Eno wanted to create compositions which did not call full attention upon themselves. They were meant to be sounds more geared towards calm meditative head spaces than mere elevator music heard in the background. Environments and how music can shape subtly the character and tone was of great interest to him. One of his themes for an album were airports. The constant changes and transitions occurring every minute, the controlled chaos, the sleep depravation, the wonder of calculated commercial flight; all these facets needed a soundtrack.

The baggage claim section of the airport with its parcels and sacks turning around and around on the carousel was fascinating in this respect; a perfect setting to frame a track from Music for Airports. It's very dull and yet it can be very exciting when your expectations flare up (and often squashed) as you search for something familiar. I'm amazed no one said anything and that security didn't take me down while I filmed intently the constantly orbiting luggage.
