Shot in glorious 3/4 inch porta-pak circa 1994.

The dissolves in this video were *brutal* to do.
I had to copy some footage to an S-VHS deck,
and then in real-time 'dissolve' the footage
from a 3/4 inch deck, S-VHS to a 3/4 inch recording
deck. (Notice the phase shifting with each dissolve!)

It was really stone-aged...but yet I'd kill to edit
with the old cuts-only tape to tape systems again.

This was the last video I shot before going off
to film school. I really loved my video days...and
film school was ten steps backwards.

I'm glad that the digital revolution is now here,
and how HD has effectively placed the bullshit you
get with film as a non-issue.

This video meant a lot to me. One of the very
few times I was able to convince a woman to
drop by my studio and allow me to videotape
her playing the cello.

It literally was a different era and a different time.

Things were a lot more permissive back then.

Interesting to hear that film school was ten steps back for you. I can relate and miss the days of video, so this inspired me to make a micro short on SVHS with an old 3CCD camcorder I haven't used in quite a bit.
