Optical Flow Particles
A quick recording to show progress on a test I was working for a client a few weeks ago, shot by Jesse ( vimeo.com/humili ) with Carl ( vimeo.com/user365510 ) in the background.
It doesn't fare very well with the compession. Motion Detection and Optical Flow are used to trigger particles in the areas of motion with information about what direction those areas are moving at.
My favourite is the "shaking the water out of your hair" effect (which hardly shows in this compressed state..).

It's using OpenCV from C++, specifically the optical flow algorithm in "cvCalcOpticalFlowPyrLK"
