See all Show me
In a week or so I will have been a member of Vimeo for a year! To mark this occassion, I thought I would make a video showing all the different avatars I have had in that year. To make it a little less boring, I've had a go at animating them. This was quite a lengthy process because I don't have flash or anything, so it was literally a case of drawing loads of pictures in MS Paint, and sticking them all together in Windows Movie Maker. Just in case anyone is interested, I also use MS Paint to make the avatars.

I liked all your avatars except for reindeer buck. He's creepy. Guy Fawkes Buck was mos' def' the sexiest.
  • Buck Flashroy 2 years ago
Haha. Personally I like the Halloween Buck picture the best.

I'm with AA -- the Guy Fawkes Buck was my favorite, too. It made me become aware of who Guy Fawkes was and why this day is celebrated.

Sexy AND educational -- a potent mix.

I agree, Guy Fawkes buck is smokin'. Excellent animations, I am in awe of your skills.

I'm with AA on the creepy reindeer buck. It's like when people a photoshop people to look bald, they end up looking fucked up. Personally i think the current one is clearly the most fly of all the bucks.

Thanks, it's the first time I've properly tried my hand at animation.

I think it was worth the effort. All your changing avatars inspired me to mix it up, too.

Thanks everybody. I spend far too long making them, so it's good to know they don't go unappreciated.

Yup, your icons are a fun part of vimeo! I still think these are icons though. I thought avatars were full body 3D virtual-yous. Or is my radiating head stuck up my ....?
  • iamloserduh 2 years ago
I thought and wonderd the same but then I just went with the flow.
  • Buck Flashroy 2 years ago
I'm not sure. Other people have reffered to them as avatars, and the dictionary I have says that in computer terms it is an icon representing a person. That seemed to fit the description to me, but feel free to disagree!

Hey Buck, you are a hero creating this stuff with MS-Paint.
I watched the video first, and thought something about 'great pixel-artist' and read then about MS-Pain.
I´d suggest that you download an other software wich makes your drawing more comfortable f.e.OpenOffice, there is a "drawing" section which is a little more comfortable, and it´s free!
  • Buck Flashroy 2 years ago
    Thanks :)

Unfortunately I can't download anything because this isn't my computer :(

It doesn't matter though - I have grown sentimentally attached to MS Paint and actually prefer making pictures in it now!

    I LOVE MSPAINT!!!!

Awhile back a friend of mine and I wrote a choose your own adventure book and i did some illustrations for it in MSPaint.

Here's a link to a slide show of them:
    www96.rockyou.com/show_my_gallery.php?instanceid=37015732

I made them back when i worked as a receptionist and was left alone with my PC all the time. Sadly I don't work there any more and all I have is my mac so i don't get to use MSPaint any more.

Thanks for the link, the slide show was hilarious. I love the "You are listed only as unknown hippie". Those drawings are great too - I am always astonished at what some people can make with MS Paint. I did a lot of my technical drawings for my dissertation in MS Paint, but a lot of people wouldn't believe me!!!

all you need is tons of free time and patience and you can make some pretty cool stuff in MSPaint. Well, you know that. You're clearly an accomplished MSPaint artist. :)

Yeah, actually, I use MS Paint all the time to prototype web pages for programmers. I've come to really like it.
