Another poetry/visual/music project. Moments was written by my friend - Julie St. Thomas. The clips were from our recent Bali trip, as usual, Glenn went beserk with his camera :) I must confess - I love all the monkey shots the best (pity I couldn't use them all here :)).

Again, my job was just to put everything together in Vegas and did the music in Acid.

I hope you like it.

Wow! Very nice short! What do you think about the sgpro?
  • Lydia Kurnia 6 months ago
Thanks so much and I am glad you liked it. I love SGPro, it gives the visuals very filmic look. I didn't have to do much in Vegas to fix the shots. But I will let my husband talk about the details with you - be warned, he may give you a full and lengthy detailed rundown on SGPro ha ha...
  • Glenn (Avene) 6 months ago
Hi Thomas, yeah the SG Pro is great. Very reliable with a great look. From all the footage I've downloaded, I still think it has the best look out of all the 35mm adapters.
  • Anthony Johnson 6 months ago
wheres the cheapest place to buy the sgpro on line.. im in usa in sept and they gonna be cheaper in usa than uk lol.. also what lense did you use .. i gotta get the kit you have, then i gotta get your talent lol!! nice :-)
  • Glenn (Avene) 6 months ago
Thanks Anthony :) I think being a UK company they'll be cheaper there and may even let you try one out. Currently they're only available from the shoot35.com website. My lenses are nearly all old ones off ebay. A Nikon f1.4 50mm which I used the most, an f2.8 100mm, f2.8 135mm and an f2.8 28mm which I'm hoping to replace with a faster Sigma f1.8 24mm.

Yeah! I LOVE poetry and this one isn't mine, it's from my talented friend - Julie. I can't do poetry too well myself, although sometimes I try :) But I think I'll just stick to video editing :D

    Thanks for the comment :)

  • Glenn (Avene) 6 months ago
That's because I got in trouble for staying there a bit longer to grab a few more shots in a spot we hadn't been to yet :P Although I got stuck there for a while talking to an Om who wanted to know about my camera.
  • MariaNYC plus 6 months ago

  • I love your creative eye, your visual concepts, and the beauty you're reflecting.
Its like we're on a similar path to remind ourselves as well as others that we're surrounded by outstanding beauty and `good things` ... we're in a world where the focus is on bad news - just turn the TV on and watch the news, very little will reflect what most of us miss.

Its these kinds of visuals that leave one feeling good - its visual food for the spirit.

I note people mention the camera ... what counts more is your creative eye, in the field and the editing room - this is where interesting visuals become creative visual works of art.

    Lovely, thank you!

    Kindest regards
    Chris

Wow thanks so much for your kind words, Chris. And yes, moments is about those snippets of time in life when everything is good, when things just fall into place. Although they may not last forever, we all should cherish when we have them. My friend Jules will be very happy that you take so much out of her poem and in the way she wants people to :)

    Thanks again!

I love the shots, editing and music. However, the video would have been way better if you had used a tripod. Many of the shots are not steady.
  • Lydia Kurnia 6 months ago
Thanks Eugenia. Yeah, I agree. Glenn would probably defend himself and say it was my editing that made the visuals shaky ;) I should probably have tried to pick the bits that were more steady. I'll keep that in mind for future works!
  • Glenn (Avene) 6 months ago
I like the handheld look :) Plus my tripod is old and a bit shakey with the whole rig on there. Besides, for the Bali stuff, carrying a tripod everywhere would have been a bit too much.

    Lovelyl!

Were the monkey shots from Ulu Watu?
  • Lydia Kurnia 5 months ago
Thanks Blake :) No, the monkeys were from the Sacred Monkey Forest at Ubud, there were so many of them all in one forest and they were very vain - they all posed for the camera and Glenn shot them pretty close too haha... We did go to Ulu Watu as well, to watch the Kecak Dance - the sunset shot was from there.

Lydia which font did you use in this film
  • Lydia Kurnia 5 months ago
Thank you, Rauerik. The font was Tempus Sans ITC. But I made it bold because the standard is too thin.

Hi Lydia, ... nice! What did you do to get the main title in "moments" and "shimmer" to move like that? Dont need all details, just point in the direction. Thanks.
  • Lydia Kurnia 4 months ago
Sorry for the delay in replying, been away. Oh, I use the text plugin effect in Vegas. For moments, it was the spherical effect, for shimmers it was wave effect. I'm glad you like them :) I am humbled.
