Sanssouci
One of our traveling band is feeling under the weather so there are only two of us on the way to the Palace Gardens Sanssouci in Potsdam. Sanssouci means "No Worries".
Our journey there takes us through the fringe of Berlin, through city and country until we pass over the bridge into Potsdam. From there it's only a short distance to the gardens but a time-consuming drive around the park to give the car a few quiet hours.
Starting at the New Palace end of the gardens, we head along the main paths up to the summer palace, the Palace Sanssouci to buy some tickets for the guided floor polishing tour.
As there are some hours to kill before the tour, we head back a little way through the quiet gardens to view the baroque Chinese Tea House; resplendent below it's satellite dish.
As photography and filming are prohibited inside the Palace and buildings, I'm showing you some motorised wild ducks instead. It's not a trick: No sound has been dubbed!
Everything seen and about 10 km walked back and forth, it's back to base; this time via the Havel Autobahn taking the long but quick way to Hermsdorf.
Our evening excursion is to visit friends in Steglitz, a part of the larger Berlin. Evening city traffic and the return drive is into the sunset.
