having fun using recycled code from the last project :)

song => four tet - a smile around the face

*unfortunately the video gets all blurry when theres too much going on due to the video compression.

created in c++ with the amazing OpenFrameworks (www.openframeworks.cc)

This is oddly satisfying to watch. Blurriness works for me.

'im glad to hear that. i was really disappointed when i saw the quality of video. when running in real time, or in a better quality video you can see so much detail it looks really nice, but still glad you like it :)

    OMG i'm in love :D

    wow... how?!
  • Rui Madeira plus 1 year ago
well... this is created in c++ using the openframeworks library which simplifies the creation of projects within c++
you can fin more about it here openframenworks.cc
the graphics are created using mainly opengl commands, and openframeworks has simplified methods for loading a music file and getting sound spectrum information out of that sound. that information is used to trigger the animation.

so presumably there's some sort of logic going on there? is there a set path that the particles are following, as well? I see they're moving more rapidly based on audio input...

openframeworks looks very interesting. took me a while to find the download page though !
  • Rui Madeira plus 1 year ago
yes. this is basically a remake of the previous video i made (sound reactive boids on a flow sphere). if you look at that one, theres a lot of yellow ribbons, and these ribbons emit particles (which are not very visible in the video...). for this one i'm simply not drawing the ribbons, and using them just as particle emitters.
openframeworks is not officially released yet, thats why there is no link on the main page.
if you like that you should also take a look at processing (www.processing.org) :)
