Ridge Running
Running along the ridge of mt Palomar mountain "ridge soaring" - this puts roller coasters in a whole new perspective. Ridge running is based on the wind and lift coming off the top of the ridge.
The HD version is a big difference from the pocket camera, and to make it all more fun, we enjoyed the entire run and ended up in 400 feet per minute thermal lift... time to climb and play again.. Oh Yeah.

But never EVER so close to the ground as Bo was flying ;-)
It's a good thing you were keeping up the airspeed, just in case.
(I don't think I'd do this, am a pilot for 45 years now)
Edit: ( a friend of mine got slammed on the ridge like that, crashed and broke both leggs and ankles. He never walked after that)
You can mount the camera with a small suction cup to the front, side or top of the windshield. I made rock-solid videos that way with a canon SD805IS. Look for it in any camera stores.
Or if you want real video camcorder mount, then use this:

This works great!
Enjoyed your movie :)
Seemed kind of risky to me.
Enjoyed your movie
That is nuts!!! Violating just about every airspace guideline out there.
anywayi a brillant video you made. amazing.
Check this!! :-)

WOW
That aside, this is a fantastic video, and I thank you for sharing it with us! It definitely seems like more fun than a roller coaster. I would ride like that all day if I could...
the good old Twin...
it's a Twin III, isn't?
the same, I learned flying on,
but I never flew that close to the ground (except rope-break-practices)
must be awesome...
but always watch your speed!
(as the grandma of a friend used to say: always fly low and slow, so nothing can happen! *gg*)
(I still think it could have a bigger rudder, seems like one gotta step a lot to get some action from it)
Yeah it is good fun, though Grandma is not right about low and slow... speed is energy and gliders is all about energy management. the ticket is low and fast, that means control and the ability to maneuver the plane safely. Low is not a good place to practice stall recovery.
But then you already did know that.. I just though it might be good to say that for other viewers.. this is kind of a "don't try this at home" kind of thing.
the rudder is really not effective enough! (from the back seat you have a little bit more power on it, did you notice that?)...
*gg* when I first flew a single-seater (ASW15) the thread on the canopy always stood far in the direction of the curve, 'cause I was used to kick the rudder harder
By the way, if you want to learn something more about the airstream in stall and slip (but I guess you already know a lot of that), please wait another week and I will have finished my video of a research we did in 2007 with our twin...
greetz from twin astir's home-country!
just superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rr
By the way good video....
