He might've thought that's what they were there for since they are on the sidewalk. Maybe he thought you wanted someone to use them. Where I live, that's usually what it means. Maybe that's just over here...

    sorry, man!

Well, they had some paper on the screens saying 'working' so the idea was those crawling for treasures might have scored some monitors - only to find out the next morning their cables cut, signs gone. Technically it is rubbish but there is an unwritten law about these things around our area - Leave everything neat if you do rummage/take things and don't leave stuff destroyed - if you want bits out of something, take the whole thing - bastard LOL

Probably just some bored teenagers breakin' stuff. I know when I was younger and there wasn't anything to do I would end up getting in trouble.

I think there is a technology one but it was more economical to toss it on the street

People are much more respectful to hard rubbish on my street. We usually find that most anything we put out is completely gone within a day.

Personally, I found a giant Garfield plushy up the road a while back. I couldn't pass up... but now I'm thinking of putting it back on our lawn for someone else.

In Cartersville, here, we sometimes pick up the tvs that the people toss out to destroy them. When we do, I usually bring my camera, but get little footage because I'm too busy smashing a TV for no good reason.

But I'm at least respectful enough to smash on MY property and not the person I 'borrowed' it from.

    Those guys are jerks.
