Part of following the evolution of the Black rock audience and the new Black imagination is about following the fans. I mean, there would be no bands, no artists on everyone's lips if it were not for audiences. What follows is the first of what I hope to be many interviews not with artists, but with fans. Artists tend to have common stories. However, who are the fans? What's their story? And what can their stories tell us about evolving multicultural, particularly Black, sensibilities and aesthetics?
