A trip to the French Pyrenees to visit this Abbey which celebrates its 1000th Anniversary this year! Accessed by a very narrow winding and very steep road rising some 1,500 metres from the town below of Vernet -les-Bains. The road is only a little wider than the wheeltrack of the LandRover we went in, and which had to negotiate many of the extreme hairpin bends by doing a 3 point turn, reversing back to the very edge of the sheer drop down from the track we were on!
