Vimeo user Alex Itin presented a show last night at Monkeytown, screening videos from Vimeo as well as paintings, animated GIFs, and HTML experiments.

It was an inspiring, relaxing night ... just laying around, eating food, drinking wine, and enjoying some commercial free video for a few hours.

Thanks Alex!

Here is the video that was screened:

Cool. It's like a utopian version of 1984.

it was... I wanted to show your collab too, but your original was in WMV and I couldn't jump the technical hurdles in time.... Hoping we will do more of this sort of thing.

hehe...nevermind, I thought you guys have to sit there and watched all the videos while it's being process, but it was only a screening you guys were watching..=]

I like that you think Vimeo might be a place with huge screens where people are sort of shepparding videos onto the Web... processing them as it were.... Like the north pole with elves only video elves.

thats hilarious. ive thought about that as well. i always envisioned a "secret" vimeo staff member whom they never introduce, who sits in some little closet watching videos all day and is purely in charge of putting up the "recommended clips" for each viewers homepage.

Yahoo video gnomes watch every clip before posting. They pass the viewing turns around of course.

It was great and disorienting to see you there last night (virtual as you and so many here are to me) and I'm going to try and steel some of your documentation to make a vlog of the thing....

One of the most wonderful features of Vimeo is that it allows you to download the original video.

Anarchists unite, you have nothing to loose but your minds.

Might be fun to do a Vimeo festival there?

Alex that gave me some crazy goose-bumps. I can't believe that little film made it's way from tiny Kumamoto, Japan to New York City, USA.

Plus, not only did my jaw drop when I saw the video was being projected on that huge screen, but when you panned and showed then entire room was full of huge screens I nearly fell outta my chair.

Thank you so much man. We must work together again.

yeah and I started crying when I watched it large... I have no idea why I cry every time I see that film...

something about how Denzou says "You sound so Japanese"... and you do this strange eye bow... that says yes and no at the same time... kills me.
