I saw this on tv, and thought it was the most strange, and most awesome commercial ever. In a way I was surprised it was on tv -- not because it's bad, but because tv seems to never have anything at all interesting/strange!

What are you using to create this style? Is it like after effects/3d with some sort of cell shader? It's mind blowing.

hah! spot on. ree drew all elements and designed the characters. Lung translated her designs into 3D and we developed a shader to match the drawings. Ree also drew directly on the UVs. Lung animated in Softimage XSI. I shot environmental elements like waves crashing, watefalls etc. then build the sets and combined all these elements in After Effects.

I loved it, and personally I think the fact it's an ad makes it even better - as said above, TV doesn't often make a bold move like this is.
