Shot on my old Sony Hi8 while visiting the WTC in 1998.

Seems eerie watching it now.
My heart goes out to all those that were affected on that shocking day 9/11/01.
Can't even imagine what people in NY went through on that day and what so many are still going through even now.

Uploaded for my SkyScraper Group vimeo.com/skyscrapers

Excuse the poor shots and shaky camera work...
(i was a young lad with my first video camera back in '98)

Wow... yeah. Kinda surreal. But thanks for sharing. And if you get a chance, definitely check out "Man on Wire" about the French tightrope walker crossing between the WTC towers in 1974. That film and yours are both working to reclaim the memories of the Twin Towers, you know?

Thanks for letting me know about the film 'Man on Wire'
I checked and it will be out here in Australia 16 Oct 08.

    Looks amazing !
    manonwire.com

    'How did he accomplish that?'
    or should I say
'what made him do it?" is mind boggling...

Can't wait to see it, thanks again :)

Many thanks for this. Brought back many memories of when I worked there in '89. The plaza's were a world to themselves with so many shops, eateries, etc. During the winter months they were a godsend since you can walk from the subway to your building without stepping outside. They connected 1 & 2 WTC to the Merrill Lynch buildings via a skywalk, also self enclosed.

I'm glad you liked it Lealar :)

That day in NY at the WTC was absolutely freezing!!!
Very sunny day but so so so cold.
I understand what you said about being able to walk from one place to another without stepping outside in NY's freezing winter.
I experienced it on that day.

Gosh, that brings back memories for me too.
    We were there in 1999.
I know what you mean about it feeling "eerie".
I remember that terrible day and feeling even more emotional impact because we had actually BEEN there.
Hard to explain, but even so it still felt so un-real...

The shots out the tall narrow windows were sad, just knowing so many people probably stood in those windows and looked out at the world one last time.

Brings a tear to my eye.
  • Sugoi 11 months ago
We can only try to imagine the terror they felt/faced that day and even then we are not even close. We can't even comprehend the decision they were facing: be burnt alive or jump to your death :(

That's exactly what I was thinking while watching this, doug.

Your right that is eerie. But your shots were not shaky at all. Very nice to see the Towers again in a peaceful light.

    Thanks Fibre Optix :)

I think it doesn't matter how many years pass, that day will still affect many.
Thanks for you comment Taylor :)

Your video is an honorable tribute now to the ones who lost their lives that day. Your music choice gives peace and serenity to the viewer I think.
  • Sugoi 11 months ago
    Thanks so much LA.
You hit the nail on the head about my video.

Wow, I never got to see them up close, just once from the runway on JFK. Thanks.
  • Sugoi 11 months ago
    You're welcome Daniel :)
Both times that I went to NY, I made sure I visited them.
I love skyscrapers and the WTC was one of my favourites.

    Thanks Ray for your comment.
I hope you weren't touched personally by 911.

My raw footage is pretty special to me as it can never be reproduced.

  • Hey Sugoi,

Great video, gives agood example of the awesomeness of the towers for people who haven't been there.

I was wondering which audiotrack you used. I really like that kind of music.

    Hope you can help me.

it's so massive it is hard to believe that anything could have brought them down...you just feel so safe being inside such thing.
  • Sugoi 4 months ago
    I totally agree with you.
I felt very safe when I was in there, those buildings were massive and solid.
I have been to NY only two times but I made sure to visit the WTC each time, those buildings were one of my favourite places in NY.

Really nice music.. Everybody starts somewhere and what progress you've made. I've got much to learn.. I'm about to buy a camcorder myself and hopefully achieve similar things that you have.. travel, capture, cut, share. Thanks for sharing the experience.. from up there you really get a feel for how big it really was. Wow..

    Hi ya Mikael :)
Thanks for your kind words again my friend.
Yeah I look back at my older videos and wish I could re-shoot them....
I find myself constantly learning and adjusting my filming & editing style as I continue to grow/learn.

I wish you all the best in your goal.

    Thanks for watching :)
