163. Meteora, Monasteries Perched Atop High Rocks, Greece
3 years ago
Many centuries ago Greek Orthodox monks began the impossible task of building monasteries on rocks that appeared to be inaccessible. Meteora means "rocks in the air", and these remain home to the monasteries down to our time.

The Meteora Valley clip is a segment from "I Follow Apollo”, the Intrepid Berkeley Explorer’s free video presenting the highlights of Greece, including Athens, Olympia, Meteora, Sparta, the Byzantine Empire, Greek Folk Dancing, the islands of Mykanos, Santorini, Crete, & Rhodes, plus Ephesus in Turkey, and much more.

To enjoy all of this film, with a high speed internet connection, plus over 30 other free, non-commercial, streaming travel videos from every continent, please click on my Video Page at:
