A 9 day contest put on by Transworld Skateboarding Magazine. You had 9 day's to skate the same obstacles 4 teams skated, you could bring any sort of props you could fit in the door (but you can't skate you props)
You can go through, over, under, but you can't skate them.
You could paint the ramps, possibly even cut the ramps?
Then your judged by the staff at TWS on first: Photos, then the video produced... Sorry to all the skaters I felt bad making you wait around all day/night just to get (a trick) shot, I think it was worth it.
Thanks to Joe. G at Globe, Globe for asking me to do it, and to all the skaters it was a pledger to work with you guy's.
Watch and Enjoy.

I don't even know what to say.
The place looked like some kind of psychedelic dreamscape. I thought up was down a few times. The filming was really creative with all of the lights and patterns. It's just an incredible vid.
  • Jason Hernandez plus 1 year ago
Well It was hell to post this, It must have taken 10 different attempts, Im not sure what was wrong with it.
    Thanks for the comment's.

I wish I could post this at full quality, it took over 10 different try's to actually post it, by the final one the KB was down so low, and it looks like crap. Bare with the shitty quality...

i like colors and lights. Last tricks by Haslam are crazy
  • Jason Hernandez plus 1 year ago
Yup, Haslam's last tricks was actually done the first day before we even got the lighting, down. We just cranked up all the saturation, and added ton's of contrast. It worked out. Thanks for watching.

this is amazing as always man, I love how it's lit up just like a photo. Awesome high key lighting, really makes it interesting, of course the filming was amazing, and i'm not even going to mention the skating. Everything just blew my mind. If you could check out some of my "requiem for a binghamton" video, and give me some professional critique, I would truely be appreciative. Your work is amazing.
  • Jason Hernandez plus 1 year ago
Hell yeah, I'll check that clip out, thanks for watching it, it was really fun doing something like that. I hadn't filmed skating like this before, so it was a challenge.
    Thanks again.

    Thank you Jonathan
  • Jonathan Roulston plus 1 year ago
Okay jason, I lied. Amazing was way too much of a understandment for this video. I experianced several emotions throughout this video. The first one being anger and jealously becuase I was going to use that song for a very professional skate video section too.... then it slowly settled in that you were doing more than enough justice to that song that it was okay. Then You started to through out the big boys and make me realize this is epic.

I rollerblade, and I'm huge in making a good skatevideo... Rollerblading is not only 20 years behind your sport as a sport, but it's also like 10 years behind in production. Like we got made fun of at a rollerblade comp for bringing gibs and one dolly there. this was back in 01, now everyone will jock you if youdo something like that. weak. anyways... Amazing is a weak word to describe this powerful edit. Great job, I mean this.

yo jason, just bought an hvx n think i got all the settings goin good, but for skating and overcrankin, would u reccomend 720p/30p with 60p or 720p/24p with 48p?
  • Jason Hernandez plus 1 year ago
I only shot 720p for the Globe thing, I dont usually film the majority of my skating in 720, I like the look, and If im shooting in that mode, then it's 720 30Pn 60 frames.
because you have the alternative to speed up the slow motion, and make it look normal. Then if your doing variable slows the original trick was already shot in slow motion.
Hope this helps, oh and also a lot of other bigger companies are all over the 720p 60p mode, just so you know, fiddle around with some other modes, and do your own thing, thats why that camera is so rad there so many other recording setups to chose from.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks Jason

  • John Note plus 1 year ago
thanks alot, and one other question. I shot some stuff today in 30pn 60 frames and it doesnt have sound. Is there a way to record the sound also?
  •
  • John Note plus 1 year ago
P.S. just ordered the easy dolly, i tried so long to make a good one that i could extend past 5 feet easily (i drive a civic so i cant cary long peices) but couldnt get it good. so stoked to get it though i saw mike gilberts when i was in cali and it looked so buttery.
  • Jason Hernandez plus 1 year ago
Ahh that's rad you got one, wer are you from?
And yeah if your over cranking the frames then your not going to get sound, you gotta make it, which is fun, time consuming, but fun.
Hope that helps, and thanks for supporting.

  • Jason Hernandez plus 1 year ago

Jason, your work is fantastic. I like your use of diegetic sound with slow motion, especially in the Eazy Dolly ad. Are you just using a shot gun mic fed into a sound recorder (given the HVX doesn't record sound)? What mic do you use? The quality is superb. Very impressed with your rhythmic editing too.

  • This is so damn sweet, awesome job! Who did the lighting and projection work in this piece? Truly spectacular.
  • Jason Hernandez plus 1 year ago
Hell yeah! thanks, the lighting was pretty much the photographer (Seu Trinh) We had a few lighting guy's but they were a little hard to give direction to, they were good people...but didnt skate that much, so they were looking at it from a different point of view.
As for the projection Idea that was all Joe. G, he's awsome he does all the stuff at Globe (united by fate) stuff.
    Thanks for watching.

Hi Jason. Quick question, what was the process for the lighting??? Was it after effects comps run through a super good projector? Was is dance club lights? Both? Ive been wondering for a bit now and thought i should ask. Thanks brah.

Check out the videos I did on this page for this rollerblading shop. Im also working on my own video right now aswell.
