If McCain and this woman are elected, I will be ashamed to be an American. I love my country, but this is not what America was intended to be about. These people are crazy. What they prech is exactly what we are horrified to hear from Muslim fanatics.

I agree that some of the video is over the top and comes across as cult like. But is is edited. And alot of the video I complete agree with. What is wrong with wanting to be closer to God. To Love Jesus and praise him every minute of the day. Praise Jesus.
  • Bruce Wilson 2 months ago
There is nothing wrong with wanting to be closer to God, however one defines God.

What is problematic about this movement, with regards to American Democracy, is that it regards all other religious and philosophical traditions as being invalid and under demonic influence.

I agree with you all. This is insanity, scary and has nothing to do with our Constitution nor the ideals of our Founding Fathers. I thank you, RDJim for making me laugh! That seems harder and harder to do of late. Oh, my. I so hope that Sen. Obama wins but we have so very much work to do both before and after the election.

I guess this is not as scary as the church that Sen. Obama attended for over 20 years, up until recently. Where is the seperation of Church and State?

Man this is a Psychology majors wet dream, there is enough mental illness in this church to publish a paper a day. These people are 1 step away from being snake charmers, my oh my christianity has been fucked up ever since that nut case Martin Luther and his follows initiated the Protestant Reformation. I bet if he had known how evil and corrupt Christianity would become and how their are only a small percentage of "true" Christians nowadays he probaly would have left things as they were. I hope this bitch, her evil satanic church and her demon children all rot and burn in the fires of hell where they belong along with John McCain and that harlote of a wife he has.

Strong words for a self proclaimed "Christian".
By these words, you my friend will be joining those you wish to damnation.
  •
  • gsmith 2 months ago
If you had footage of her convulsing under the 'anointing' like many of these misguided (and I stress... misguided...) Christians, then I'd be concerned. But what you have is limited footage of her speaking which has been edited and stuffed full of content not directly related to her. Like Obama was vilified for his association with his outspoken pastor, you're vilifying her for her association.

The real tragedy here is that people wanting God in their lives turn to leaders who mislead them into practices that not only take them further from God, but alienate many they are trying to reach to bring to God.
  • Bruce Wilson 2 months ago
The video documents the relevance of the footage used, and we've provided a link to extensive documentation of every single clip used.

But, we can't force you to read.
  • gsmith 2 months ago
I watched again pausing it at the scrolling commentary and again stress that you're making guilty by association. Nothing she said or was said of her was reflective of the extremes shown in the footage... the source being from an organization opposed to the 'religious right' and so loses all objectivity whatsoever.

The real problem, as you mentioned in another comment, is how we define God. See, others may label you, but you define you. So, the first step is to learn how God defines Himself, then how He views the rest. That way you can sift the gold out from the silt.

I've heard of "Holy Rollers" all my life but have never seen any in action, until now, anyway, and while I look on in wonder that any educated Americans can give themselves over to such complete hysteria, I cannot help but note that their leaders never seem to display such mindless behavior. It takes me back to the days when this same sort of rapture was being instilled in young bobby-soxers while the agents and promoters of skinny young crooners looked cynically on, laughing all the way to the bank.

Do all Alaskans have similarly vacant brainpans? After all, they did make Sarah Palin governor of their state.

And she was quite right that "something is going on around here," but whatever it is does not bode well for the rest of us should she remain such a mainstream media darling.

As has been happening throughout the country ever since electronic voting became widespread, there are doubts whether Palin was legitimately elected governor. Why has it taken the Democrats going to court to force the state elections division to reveal their date. Why was that data base altered two years after the 2004 election when it became apparent they state was going to be forced to reveal the raw database?

To see some articles related to Alaska using the Diebold discredited voting systems do a Google search with the key words Alaska, Diebold, 2006.

Then see the movie that is out right now called "Stealing America, Vote by Vote". Ideologues that believe they are doing the work of their "god" are capable of anything.

One of the purposes of Palin having the citizens of Wasilia finance a new sports stadium was to help her church have room to engage in such mass hysteria.

Their aim is to make this country into a theocracy, just as the Taliban did in Afghanistan.

It is the comments that scare me more then the video. If being a nutty christian was Obama's only fault.
    Have you seen Obama's church?
Here you go, have a look!
    youtube.com/watch?v=617eK2XIaLk
    youtube.com/watch?v=vaNBzU6iryo

I think you easily led lemmings need to educate yourselves on your candidate....

And if you people would do ANY research instead of taking the word of dis-information groups, you would find that she is actually a member of Wasilla Bible Church, and has not attended this cult in almost a decade.

For someone to have stolen the votes to her current elected seat, I guess she stole the 80% approval rating she has carried for most of her term as well....
  • Bruce Wilson 2 months ago
Ed Kalnins, the head pastor of the Wasilla Assembly of God has stated that Palin maintains an ongoing relationship with the church, which Palin attended for over 25 years and was baptized in at the age of twelve.

On June 8th, 2008, Palin spoke at a Wasilla Assembly of God "Masters Commission" graduation ceremony and she also appeared at a "One Lord Sunday" event (a gathering of local churches), in the area on the same day, during which Palin was publicly blessed ( or "anointed" ) by Kalnins. Governor Palin may have misused state travel funds to fly from Juneau to attend those Wasilla AoG-centric events.

Meanwhile, one Wasilla Bible Church member has stated he has seen Palin attend the church perhaps 1/2 a dozen times in a year.

Hey chopped, does Jeremiah Wright offend you? I hope so. He may say it loud and direct, but there is truth in what he says. Does the truth hurt? Can you not hear it? If the social change that Wright advocates can only come to Washington instead of the wingnut white Christians and their oppressive agenda, THAT will be a true step back to the Constitution that we've lost somewhere along the way. After what the white churches have done to us for all these years, I'll be happy to try a change in color. Oh yes, that's what this is all about anyway, color.

    CJS
    Are you serious?
    Truth in Rev Wrights sermons?
He said that the Government created HIV! He said that the Government was responsible for 9-11! He said that it is our fault, and we deserved 9-11, and terrorist attacks!
I am sorry, but where does a US hating, racist, black power, socialist have a place in our Constitution?
Have you actually listened to them, or are you just agreeing with his Black Power sentiments?
He is not only a racist, but also anti-government, anti-establishment, anti-UNITED STATES, and an conspiracy theorist.
These guys are feeding America a shit sammich, and folks like you are eatin it up!
  •
  • cjs 2 months ago
Absolutely. Because the shit sammich on the other side of the menu is no better. I didn't say it was all true, I said there was truth there, and it takes a reasonable mind to hear and see it. I work in an inner city, I see it every damn day, so don't tell me it doesn't exist.

But then again, as you said about Palin, Obama is no longer associated with that church so we have nothing to worry about, right? It's in the past and of no consequence in the here and now. Feel better?
  • Chopped Fiddyfour 2 months ago
So are you voting for Obama because the other side is no better? The anyone but a Republican campaign?

Takes a reasonable mind to hear that Wright is insane as they come.

SO you work in the inner city, and this is why you agree with Wright and Obama. So you are all for enabling them instead of forcing them to help themselves. Let's go ahead and reward them, and assist them, with government programs paid for by hardworking folks, when they do not want to put forth the effort to help themselves.
Let's increase minimum wage, and pay them more for less work. All this is what kills the economy. IF, and I use IF boldly, Obama is elected you will see what this type of plan does for the already stressed economy.
  • NoBama Fo Sho 2 months ago
The "shit sammich" is tasty looking to the, lazy, less fortunate, good enoughers.
The libs are the first to comment and attack Palin on her religion, and her family, but the first to defend Hussien's crazy, Black Liberation spiritual advisor, and dont mention that his own mamma was unwed and only 17 when she had him.
  •
  • cjs 2 months ago
It's a shame you can't see through the rhetoric and recognize that there are real class and race issues in this country that go far beyond the 'reward and assist them' mindset. Get to know these people and how they actually live. Get out from the TV propaganda and political grandstanding and actually SEE it how it IS and not how it's portrayed.

BTW, check out factcheck.org and compare oranges to oranges. McLiar will actually be costing us more according to their proposals. I was willing to listen to the republicans till the ad that blamed Obama for gas prices.

Oh yes, and how much are we paying for the lovely war propaganda we now have as commercials, the military channel and even ads before movies in theaters? Yeah, I want four more years of that horse crap, claiming we're doing God's work.

I don't know about you, but the God I know doesn't advocate killing innocent children, babies, and adults of ANY faith or race, not just the unborn ones in the USA. Sounds to me and my God like they all need to be exorcised of the demons that make them want to kill.
  • Chopped Fiddyfour 2 months ago
Yeah, I see it for what it is. I, myself am a product of the "inner city". I too grew up with challenges, and hardships, BUT I did not expect someone to dig me out of them. You see, I went to school, I busted my ass, and I am now, what I consider successful. I did not ask ANYONE for help, little less people I do not know. It is a class and race issue only because people like Wright, Michelle Obama, and yourself continue to allow it to be.

Are you really quoting Factcheck, a biased liberal site, for your information?

As far as WE paying for the commercials? What are you referring too as propaganda? The ads for our armed services? I am sure you are against them as well....

Here is a video to ponder:
    youtube.com/watch?v=TG4fe9GlWS8
  •
  • cjs 2 months ago
I love our service men and women, I hate how they are being used. I hate how they are thrown away when they return from such service. They are noble individuals, asked to do an ignoble job, a job we were all lied to about. Make no mistake, no one hates our service people, but we hate how our leaders use them.

And yes, I am against the ads. Bring back the honor to armed services and there won't be such a recruitment shortage.

By the way, as for that video, if we go by that thinking, then we should also invade every non-democratic country and take them over too. Watch out Cuba! Whoa China, Argentina, and would that also include North Korea? That's very ambitious! Do we have enough manpower to invade and convert to democracy all those countries? Or just the ones with oil? Hmm... Invasion and occupation on a grand scale, all in the name of democracy... or some other natural resource.

Fact check and media Biasd Chopped?
If the whole media world has a bias then the observer is biased or delusional.
If you think the American media is biased you should read foreign media like Al Jeseria or whatever.

I'm not opposed to religious fanatics in government. Go ahead and rip into that statement. But religious fanitaticsm is better than dependance on drugs and more drugs for emotional illness like what we have now. (Big Pharma and tobacco in the White House)
At least McCain has the wisdom to reconize tobacco as the drug epidemic that it is. He would be better than Bush on that point alone. If you need a drug fix more than once an hour you just might be a drug addict.
In the end I'm voting for Obama because he intends for America to come together. Palin's religion is dividing by it's nature. Miricles happen only at the expense of some outcasts, some who decide to bring AK 47 to school before kiling self. These cults draw people who fear being that outcast.
Bush has an army of drug addicts taking meds to cope fighting an army of fanatics. The drug addicts are at a disadvantage in the long term.
  • cjs 2 months ago
I agree with the divisive nature of Palin's religion, and other Christian-type churches. In fact, that was one disagreement I had with my mother over these candidates. Divided we fall, and we're going down hard that way right now.

I've not considered your PoV concerning cults, fanatics, and drug addicts before, Richard. Interesting.

This will be my last post here. I am growing exhausted of these conversations which will never have any resolution....

Bottom line. Obama is a big government, black power, racist, socialist, two steps from communist, pig! I really, really doubt he will ever make it in the White House, but still scares me that the people of America, quite a few on this board alone, give this in-experienced, U.S. hating clown the chance.

So CJS is an African American, my guess would be female, working with poor, inner city persons looking for a hand out, not a way out. One compliment added to the analysis, seems intelligent.

My guess would be Richard C is a hippie/ex-hippie, or that person also looking for a hand out. Response seems a little, if not very obscured and out there/fanatical.

Ya'll two have a great time living it up on my dime! Even more so if your boy is elected and he raises my taxes to pay for it!!!
  •
  • cjs 2 months ago
Okay, so this too will be my last comment.

I am actually a middle-class white female, one child in college, the other graduated. Oh how I loved the Bush changes in financial aid; it's not every day I get bent over the table like that! Ahem, but anyway...

My final analysis of what you stated, besides the obvious GOP party line about dems, is that you have actually fallen for the GOP propaganda and lies that have fed your fear of black folks. Folks like you, and my parents, want to believe these lies because you are afraid of the African in his blood. This is the republican way, to split our country into splinters and it's what makes me so angry. I understand you are probably afraid of your world being rocked so hard by such a drastic change in the old white man status quo.

Personally, I want change to come in like a GD freight train and shake this country to it's foundations. We have always been at our best in adversity, and right now, more than ever, we need to fight for what this country was built upon in the first place. I love this country, it's killing me to watch it become barely a shadow of it's former self.

Indeed, if there were only a VIABLE third party, just think of the possibilities.

Chopped knows he lost a debate...

So he condemns Obama based on the e-lies circulating, then tries to prove his perceptive powers on educated gueses. (not bad) then says outta here before he gets creamed.
As for his guesses he was close, but not dead on. I do know hippies. And I support Nader ideas.

I also reconize problems that fly under radar. The entire Pickens Plan was my idea.
Bush thanked me for my idea, but won't listen to my drug ideas. Won't give a job to a liberal either.

Libertarians like Chopped believe in free market slavery. They hate social programs but support corporate welfare. They think every one has a chance like it should be.

    False Christ.
There is a comment noting that the leaders don't do the eratic behaviors. That is because they are "the Christ" that is being followed.

Every time these people give up themselves for "Jesus" they become more and more a part of the church spirit and more addicted.
Meanwhile there is some sucker the leaders don't like who is the emotional food. When he/she goes to jail or the nut house the pastor finds someone else. Often it is someone in the group who falls away.

It would be so much fun to lead a cult. Just don't get caught with pants down.

Mass brainwashing at its best. Does anyone else see the parallels between this and the Jonestown Massacre? If someone like Jesus lived today, these people would kill him. I have no doubt of that. If you want to "be saved" then stop being lazy and praying to a God to save you. DO IT YOURSELF. Live a pure life without judging people and without proselytizing. Oh wait, that's too hard to do. Never mind. On with the brain-washing.

You do realize it is not the Republicans that are sending us into recession right?
It is the Democrats with their fair housing, subprime loan, fair chance for everyone bullshit, and the last 2 years of a Democrat lead House that is killing us!
So now we are spending more to bail companies out like today AIG, last week Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, then the have spent on the war in Iraq!!!!
  •
  • Richard C 2 months ago
I realize it's the Republicans who have taken everything and there is nothing left.
You see Wall St depends on this delusion that things are going well. So the value of real estate must increase. Then during the next little slow down 25% of Americans can't aford housing costs.
As it is impossible to save the initial capital to start a small business on low wages going to inflated rent the economy stagnates.
Then truth comes and smashes the Wall St prosperity delusion and there is another great depression.
Under Republicans it is even worse as groups fight each other over the few crumbs that are left because of the politics of racial/religious fear.
  • NoBama Fo Sho 2 months ago
The Republicans have taken everything? Democrats, and their contributors propose housing bills, get them passed, every limp dick in america buys a $400k house on an arm, that could not afford a $150k house in the first place, then when that arm matures into a 26% mortgage they get forclosed on. In the meantime America's economy is going to the shitter while these same liberal fuks are getting multi hundred MILLION dollar severances!
  • Richard C 2 months ago
150k house? Where? Someplace with only $8/hr jobs?
Someplace with very high heating costs?
Any city with decent jobs a 300k house is in the druggie hood. Can't live there on low wages unless share with 16 others. Economy based on total value os US real estate. Too bad most people can't afford to live in said real estate. A little thing like the rise in fuel prices totally popped the delusion of prosperity. Too many people had to choose between getting to work or paying mortgage/rent/car payment.
25% can't afford housing costs and are living with friends/relatives or are homeless. This leaves a lot of vacant property. Nobody buys new homes, construction and construction jobs stop. Unemployment figure is much higher than reported because most construction jobs were off the books.
The Republicans are wise to aviod talkng about the economy. How about lipstick, pigs, and space aliens. They are better off spreading lies that the Obamas are space aliens than talking about the economy.

And speaking about welfare. Cooporate welfare is probably 5x social welfare under Bush. Many large churches have bread lines.
  • NoBama Fo Sho 2 months ago
Dallas, TX has a GREAT job market. In fact Texas as a whole have increased jobs when others have lost. In Dallas, and surrounding areas, you can get a decent home, in a decent area for $150k. My home is right under $300k and there are quite a few $150k homes in our same subdivision.

They can not afford their bills because they have made bad choices in life. The great thing about this country is you always have a options. BUT these options should never be to rely on the Government to bail you out because you made a bad decision!

And I am sorry, the economy is the Dems fault. 2 years in the House and Senate are proof of that! The contributions to the Obama campaign are proof to that! Obama is the second largest recipient of funds from Fannie and Freddie. Only thing is it was only THREE YEARS!
People are a product of their associations! Obama's are crooks, racist, anti-american, terrorists! Exactly the right person to lead this country!
How can people be so blind?!?!?!
  • Richard C 2 months ago
Texas has jobs and housing under Bush..Oh wait that's his red home state. What about California? Nope.

It is amazing that someone who's associations are crooks, racist, anti-american, terrorists..and he can run for President.
What is even more amazing is that people actually believe this lie. How can anyone be so stupid to believe someone with those association would be allowed to run for President?
I could just as soon believe that the Obamas are space aliens who plan to convert the planet to food for aliens.

The mass loss of prosperity under Bush is why so few Republicans got re-elected 2 years ago. The economy started falling apart on 9-11. And Bush decided to just stay the course to destruction. I honestly think McCain would have done a much better job than Bush. Unfortunantly Osama bin Laden is winning spiritually against Bush. Also the disparity of wealth is a huge problem. As Bush is a Republican the Democrats are going to take over.
I cringe at the idea of Abortion, Gay Marriage, and erosion of family values and church values, but America needs to regroup. If McCain had a good plan for America to come together I would vote for him, however Obama's whole platform is based on America regrouping.
Bush destroyed the Republican half of America because of his half-wit drug policy leading to stupid decisions. Now America needs to regroup and come together. This is why I'm voting Obama.
I like Republican social policy. I'm a social conservative. However every Republican White house in my adult lifetime had a Bush in there somewhere. I don't like America on drugs policy under Bush. I didn't like Nixon's appointing Billy Grahm as the state minister either. I don't want a state religion.
Hilary Clinton was supported by tobacco and big pharma. Her supporters were pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage feminists. She would have been worse than Bush. I would have supported McCain.

I take no position on the reality, or lack thereof, of the phenomena in question.

    That's not the point.

Catholicism has its miracles also, as does Hinduism and other world religions. And, the realm of the miraculous does not serve to justify particular political ideologies.

    That's the real point.

Palin goes to Juneau Christian Center. The head Pastor of that church, Mike Rose, is a close associate of Rodney Howard-Browne, father of "Holy Laughter".

Howard-Browne brought his "anointing" of that "Holy Laughter" to Rose's church in the 1990's.

Rose was on Howard-Browne's advisory board.

You would have already known that, however, had you read the subtitles.

Some easy directions for the Palin fans.
Hop into your SUV and drive up to Seattle Wa. From there head north on I-5 until you get to
Hope, where you will pick up Highway 97. Take 97 all the way past Quesnel, Prince George, and Dawson Creek. Keep going (don't give up yet). Somewhere right around Watson Lake, Highway 97 becomes
Highway 1. Continue on Highway 1 all the way up through Whitehorse and on through to Tok. Hang in there your getting closer. From Toke you'll need to start heading West, so be sure not to accidentally turn off on Highway 2. From that point on just keep heading west and you will be in Wasilla in no time.
When you get to Wasilla, form your own country and secede...please.

I strongly believe that all modern " christian" movements like this one ARE the false prophets warned of. The bible makes a very good paper weight and should not be the end all be all in finding a higher power. No where does any prophet of the bible or Jeus himself say " get the book we are putting out .. it's THE authority on all things God" and that is a pretty f'n big omission in prophecy considering how much stock people are putting in a bookk put together by a pagan king or ruler ( constantinople commisioned the bible to get control of the christain movement in his kingdom).
This looks no different than voodoo dancers and other way out there cults.
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and smells like a duck... IT'S A DUCK.
