The best I've seeing so far. If you use this camera properly you can get very good results.

hey man, looks great. have you figured out any manual controls shut as shutter ans iso speed?
  •
  • Properly handled (no insane pans/tilts, more "filmic" handling) this could be a very capable camera. But _please_ lock the exposure before shooting!

    Hello,

And what about 5 mn HD time limit recording ? Nikon overloaded or just maximum file size ?

How many time befor to be able to shot again in HD D-movie mode ?

    Thanks a lot !

the 5 min recording limit is because the sensor is designed for still shots, so any longer and it would overheat and die.

Please share your settings used to get such a low-noise image. The detail is very nice in this clip.

Looks fantastic--a clip like this gives one a sense of how world-changing this camera (and the new canon 7d or whatever it'll be called) will be.

  • 5 min limit due to the EU otherwise classifying it as a video camera... higher tariffs. If you can believe that.
  • Andy Smith 1 year ago
I don't think that's true...it's more likely just to prevent sensor overheating. If the EU rule thing was true, every digital stills camera that can capture video would have to be classified as a video camera.

    Hello,

    Interesting !

It could be nice to download original avi video. I would like to make some edit tests with Adobe Premiere Pro for quality results.

Would you like to place it on a free place like yousendit.com, please ?

Look at "D90 Japanese sample", i put the original AVI link.

    Best Regards

What is your capture workflow? Capture to SD card? OR can you capture directly to an external drive?

    Thanks!

there are couple of things that made me get the hv30 over the d90. (i'm eagerly waiting untill the red scarlet comes out!). First, the rolling shutter is just awful. It is so annoying. The D90 has highly compressed image. And three the D90 does not have a mic input, and only shots 24fps. Although the colors from the d90 are better than the hv30, when it could be held still!
