Alaska Pray 2B Arabia (Cry Cry Cry)
(Glacialmelt Reggae Remix)
This is a rough cut entry in the Johnny Cash remix contest on AcidPlanet. It builds off, a bit, from the more subtle invention of an Alaskan Reggae version, without the spoken word clips that appear in this version.
Here, Johnny Cash counterpoints with "Cry Cry Cry" as Sarah Palin states her faith and exhorts prayer to build her favorite pipeline, sell Alaska and rid the world of community organizers once and for all. Most tracks were remapped to a defective reggae beat.
There's still not enough skank (guitar) here, I realize all too well. Then again, it's hard work skanking when you're wearing those bigass gloves all winter long.
At least while the contest is still running, from now until October 5, 2008, the MP3 can be downloaded free at acidplanet.com/artist.asp?PID=1153600&T=6566
To the discerning vimeo residents: As for the video, I regret the very bad stills in some cases and am on the hunt for better ones. Even better I would like to find some authentic stock footage if anyone is prepared to offer it.
Also, I'm painfully aware there's way too much sloppy zooming in the pan & scan choreography here. I'm also hoping to add much better maps of Alaska and the Athabasca tar fields, soon as I secure permissions from potential collaborators, or find a way to create my own clips to fill the weak spots. Suggestions and offers to collaborate on a better version of this, particularly on the photo/video side, will be much appreciated.
If you're interesting in making this video better (or making a response video or something similar) there are more materials in the Tar Sands and Polar Bears Group ( vimeo.com/groups/TSNPB )
