I have a strange hand-eye coordination problem with revolving doors. I have a tendency to time my entrance incorrectly, and often wind up sandwiched with an unsuspecting stranger. Happened to me with a boss at work one time - awkward.

So...I was amazed to find this extravagantly spacious revolving door the other day!

Don't forget those flower pots for the ultimate finishing touch!

Do you think the plants make it easier to coordinate the walk-through? Maybe when it's all glass, it gets confusing.

I think so -- it's tough to call one way or the other, though I definitely feel the door benefits with having the plants at each side.

The sad thing here is that they're probably fake...

The plants are quite the finishing touch. Turns the doors into a magical gateway to fairy land.

    I would put naked chicks.

That's why I'm never in charge.

Gotta accomodate all the fat Americans. The door was probably subsidized by McDonalds.

LOL. Solid insight. I recently watched Supersize me - surprised that I didnt make the connection.

I know. And youve gotta assemble it yourself with a bunch of silly and incorrect drawings.

Revolving doors are fun until you're like, 5. These days I just get nervous when I have to go through one!

I ended up with a nasty bruise after misjudging one recently. Its pretty embarrassing when your body is outside but your arm is stick inside.

How about adding a floor to the revolving doors so you don't even have to walk!
  • Jonathan Marcus plus 2 years ago
Great idea. Ill spec it, and you can code it. Will definitely require multi-threading technology.

Does anyone understand the purpose of a revolving door?
My theory is that its a small area through which many people have to travel, and if it was just a free-for-all people would get angry, whereas people don't seem to mind waiting for their turn in the door...and if they do they get an awkward couple seconds, since its very difficult to walk in one of those when its cramped.
  • Jonathan Marcus plus 2 years ago
Ive never actually thought about the purpose - but your theory sounds about right.

a 90 minute latin class gives you time to wonder about things

Isn't the purpose of a revolving door to not let the heat/AC out of the building the way a normal door would?
  • Jimi Heffernan 2 years ago
    that seems more likely

Revolving doors (I've heard) were invented in Chicago to prevent doors from flying open and shut in the wind. Then again, my Chicago area elementary school teachers might have a biased opinion....

Remember when I was like 8 and I got my arm trapped in the revolving door in London.

    I started crying.

Yeah I find revolving doors really awkward too. There is never a dignified way to enter one...

    Except for this one...
