I've had many an argument with friends who are photographers about this subject and based on the fact that the mediums are mixing, eventually there will be one operator for both formats. Is this the end of either???
Looks great.

is this D90 use the sensor frame (almost 35mm film format sensor size) so similar to the RED (taking the compression factor of course ...) looking for it , or maybe the D5 canon ....
Just a question? Can you focus on the viewfinder!!! or only in the lcd? Any gadget to fit to lcd? Thanks.

But I am a part-time pro that plans to learn the ins and outs of the D90 as a great SLR for 12Mp stills, and also allows me to use my Nikkor glass to task for some video work. You can afford a Red? Great! But I can't, so I am among those (call me a "prosumer if you like) lauding the video functionality.
I am led to believe that you did not read the article. RED's DSMC (Digital Still and Motion Capture) will compete within the same market that Nikon's D90 and Canon's 5D are in; yes, even in price. However, I do not believe it will be much competition. I have a feeling this "DSMC" is going to blow us away. Seriously, read the article. Whereas the D90 shoots 720p [and the 5D at 1080p], RED's DSMC will [most likely] shoot 2k or 3k! Not to mention the amazing RAWCODE RED codec that will be utilized: RAW editing, for video. Simply amazing.
I, also, cannot afford the RED ONE... which is why I am looking forward to this!
I'm halfway into getting a D90.. but I'm affraid I'll regret it.
I have a D60 now, and shoot time-lapse and 3fps clips with it... It's obvious to me that I like the picture look... but to have it in motion. Lenses, control and HD. thats what camcorders can't and Nikon and RED can.
The cams and lenses, dollys and seperate sound equipment is simply too expensive for semi-pro or home users.
When getting into photography, I think a lot of people get to know cinematography.
Nikon D90, Canon 5Dmk2 are the first steps to make it all possible in 1 device (except the audio part maybe).
...a lot of people are waiting for RED's answer to this.

Quick question. Do you recommend this camera for shooting short films for a guy on a budget? or do you think i should take my money elsewhere and buy a different camera?
Thanks!
but i was wondering if the image was compressed by Vimeo or is that the way the image actually looks after being imported onto a computer?
Great footage by the way!

and of course the tag line on his blog "I've been making films for the past 20 years."
I apologize in advance if I misconstrued your post :-).
Quick question, could you plug a external mic like rode videomic on D90 ?
im shooting short film on this and im being very careful with its limitations.
anyway great review and vid
Which editing software did you use and which filters did you apply?
Or is it the lenses you used?
Perfect visuals, perfect color, perfect sharpness...
poor Exposure-Lock jajajajajja... but thats a problem of the D90 doesnt mather.
Wich lenses did you use?
But I think the Canon D5 Mk2 is far far better, but not as good as an EX3.
