These are the waterproof LED strips mod by Eric aka Tend2it at rcgroups. It helps a lot with orientation when it is completely dark as you can see, It also works as a bumper guard that protect the X-CSM frame, and it really rocks in that regard ;)
My opinion it should be recommended by the manufacturer( Ascending Technologies) to help protect the frame from hard crashes
