What did you set your picture profile to?
  • VITA BREVIS plus 1 year ago
I set one up that was pretty low contrast, i wanted to get crushed blacks in post instead of crushing them in camera.

A couple questions: how did you encode this video and what did you use to export? The quality is stupendous!
    -Steve
  • VITA BREVIS plus 1 year ago
exported png quicktime then to h264 for web and what not. used compressor with extra plug ins.
  •
  • Matt E plus 1 year ago
    That's rockin'! Love it.
  •
  • Liam Underwood 1 year ago
yeah would love to know what you exported as.. oh and did you use magic bullet/color grading? nice shots. very hollywood
  • VITA BREVIS plus 1 year ago
thank you very much! I did png quicktime 23.976 out of after effects, then h264 for web using compressor plug ins. no grading from magic bullet, just layers of selective color correction for grading.

Did you use any graded 4x4 filters to get that nice sky shots. if you did can u tell what was it.

    Freaking awesome video!!!
  • VITA BREVIS plus 1 year ago
thanks allot man! we actually didnt use any filters on the shoot. just extensive color grading in post.
  •
  • w.pasman 1 year ago
Nice! What gear did you use to get the views, stabilized arms from a car or is that lake so flat that you don't need that?
  • VITA BREVIS plus 1 year ago
thanks, we used the sony ex-1 on a jimmy jib in the back of a dodge truck. shots were a bit shaky but we went with it. seemed to add to the feel a bit. thanks again
  • w.pasman 1 year ago
That jib worked nice. Cable drive or remote control version? Amazing that you got such little shakes without further stabilization!
  •
  • bayoyong 1 year ago
dude. this kicks ashcans. so..from reading the comments...shot with ex1 then used magic bullet in ae?
  • VITA BREVIS plus 1 year ago
thanks for the nice words. it was shot with the ex1 but no magic bullet just layers of selective three way color corrections.
  •
  • Cabbytube 1 year ago
this pics you can get when using your camera correctly...seems that he read the manual:)) all your other guys also should do this...greets from rainy germany. this lil ex baby rocks!
  • VITA BREVIS plus 1 year ago
    nice! love it
  •
  • Christopher Prouse plus 1 year ago
    goose-bumps.

may i ask what you edit with, eg. final cut, and could you expand a little on your colour grading workflow... i'm in complete aw
  • VITA BREVIS plus 1 year ago
thanks so much! I use final cut as we all do, and no magic bullet plug ins, I simply use layer upon layer of selective color gradings, mainly to just hit different parts of the image one at a time. thanks again for the nice words.

    Wow. I want an EX1.

  • Alex Everingham 1 year ago
By chance did you teach yourself cinematography, or did you go to school for film? You seem to really know you're way around a camera is the reason I'm asking.
  • VITA BREVIS plus 1 year ago
thanks very much! I have been doing it for several years and just kind of developed it over time I suppose. I did go to school for it but that was more because I wanted to go to college and thought it would be better to go for film than something I wasnt interested in. thanks again.
  • Alex Everingham 1 year ago
Cool, i'm hoping to go to FSU to study film, got my fingers crossed. Cinematography and editing are my main interests. Awesome video though, great job.

Wow awesome video. I really dig the whole visual style. The car is pretty cool too :). I would really love to see some raw footage if you don't mind.

did you crop your 16:9 image to get the 1:85 look?
  • VITA BREVIS plus 1 year ago
Hello, well the image was shot in normal 16:9 than i cropped it to approximately 2:35. 1:85 is a little less "wide" if you will.

The crushed blacks look great, it makes the red paint pop very well without being too contrasty and artificial. Nice work.
  • VITA BREVIS plus 5 months ago

Incredible stuff mate, loved the CC. One question, how did you record the foot step audio in the intro?
  • VITA BREVIS plus 5 months ago
It was done after we shot the video and just rolled some sound on the footsteps. Then slowed down to match the slow video. Thanks for the nice words
