Thank you. I drew a five-panel storyboard, and then Dan found generic graphics of lungs and mouth/nasal cavities, composited them together with the actress' face (the clip fades from live action of a character dragging on a cigarette) using After Effects and rendered all the motion that way as well. Then he exported the mockup as an image sequence, printed the images out and traced them with a sharpie and rescanned them.
