Brilliantly! And good music, besides! What was ready first, the music or the film? Really! Thank you! Zofia

    Thank you Zofia!

Music was carefully chosen on purpose, but then music was first. Music is always image backbone, but also needs a lot of editing to fit image length. This piece of rock music has been cut 5 or 6 times I guess...

Thank you! Somehow I knew that first created the music ...
Is for you the music is always a starting point?
Grade I learn everything about making movies, have much material that I lack the experience with programs and a professional camera ... I must still learn!
And thanks to master, like you, I learn even faster ...
    Embrace ... Zofia

Well, music is not the real starting point, because usually image is. At least image is the reason for you to look for a music. So image drive your music need and choice. But then, music locks you to its tempo, to its structure. When editing you basically try to match image over music. If there is no way for you to make image match music, then you try to do something with music (cut, shorten, substitute another part, repeat last bars…).
Editing music with not a single image is also quite efficient. Say you have a length you wanna match. Edit your music to make the right duration. Half the job is done, while you didn't even start editing a single shot...
I guess a good editing is when music fits image and image fits music...

i hope taylor and nugget at ttr got to play with this, its sick, shame it wasn't sunny and wet you would have got so much cool spray
  • ttrworldtour plus 6 months ago
Nope, unfortunately we didn't as we don't have access to these shots at the moment, but let's see if we can't cut a deal with O'Neill in the future as they are super sick. To check some of the A+ slomo shots watch the Evolution TV show! It will also soon be available on ttrworldtour.com

Nice, funny editing, excellent closeups. That must be a noisy camera to work with, it probly gets very hot.

Its cool when it almost seems like snow is turning into water.

David - This stuff's totally ill. Sharing it w/ everybody. Love the Vinnie C. music. Which piece is that? Can't find it.
  • David Coiffier plus 6 months ago
    Thanks Steve!
track is named "if one was one", and is out of the only solo record he did (or at least the only I'm aware of). Album doesn't have any name, just Vinnie Colaiuta, and is from 1994 I guess...

amazing. but theese slow motions where a bit trunky... did u use time remap in after? select the keyframes and press f9 so it get smother!!

by the way, i watche all of your videos and i love them all.

inspires me to do better works. im using d90 now for filming with 35mm digital. (d90 sucks but its the cheapest 35mm film look) . i heard about some nikon camera control... iknow i use canon but here is the question...

do u use some kind of software to get it done or use the remote control?

do u know something about nikon soft and were can i find it?

by the way great shots of the stars. some day ill do the same and send it to u!!

    TNKS!

    Thx for your comments!

I dunno what means trunky, and dunno either what the heck you're talking about After Effects & keyframing. Anyway, thx again, and for Nikon software, please visit Nikon website, it has to be a good starting point...

And please, let me know when you have something to show!

Did you do a black body reference prior to running? I have the same banding issues (different vertical line shades across screen...for all you who don't know what it is) with the Phantom 9.1 if I don't do it before a shoot.
  • David Coiffier plus 6 months ago
Actually, it hasn't been made for those snowboard pictures, and that's why you're asking, hehe… ;)
They've been done with a v1 Sprintcam, which is now history, and snow shooting was probably the worst experience ever for that sensor...
Btw, did you check latest model samples ? Still not totally perfect, but far better in any way : vimeo.com/4167288

I don't like this movie, for me slowdowns are sometimes not at the time. Overall ok. :)
