Shot with the Sony V1U 1080i60, edited in native HDV in Premiere CS3 and exported to H.264 1920x1080. As you may know, HDV is recorded in 1440x1080, but editing in 1920x1080 looks good to me. The laparoscopic video was shot off of a HD LCD monitor in the OR, because the HD laparoscope does not have a means of recording HD video oddly enough. Options for recording HD in the OR usually include an XDCAM deck, although newer HD scopes have either component or SDI outputs, and the new Sony 1500 HDV deck which is much less expensive than the XDCAM decks, could be used to record 1080i non HDV video to HDV. While ads from Panasonic say HDV is outdated, there is something to be said for recording in the field to $4 DV tapes. You would need a lot of SxS or P2 cards to equal the recording time of 20 HDV tapes.
